Modern: An updated version of the extremely popular Matsushita Gen 4, the 5th Generation has the newest igniter and a smaller footprint than most any OEM ballast on the market.
In Comparison: To the OEM Denso ballasts offered at TRS, the Matsushita Gen V has a smaller footprint and a considerably longer output cord made possible by relocating the igniters to the D2S head. It's a toss up!
Popular: The Matsushita Gen V are perfect for use in a HID headlight retrofit or replacing an old worn-out unit in your stock xenon headlights. The Matsushita's are found under the hood of many modern Nissan, Infiniti, and Subaru vehicles as part of the original-equipment HID system - and if these big brands can trust them; so can you.
But Wait: With all this good, what about the bad? Well, OEM ballasts are designed to be mounted completely or partially inside of a headlight housing, so their shell is not naturally water-proof, and if they get wet, their warranty will be void.
Beware: The Matsushita Gen V ballasts are best used with OEM Quality bulbs from Philips, Osram, or the Morimoto XB Series. Often times cheap D2S bulbs will not work reliably with these D2S ballasts 35W, and it's actually the bulb's fault.

Best bang-for-the buck

I was stuck on getting these or the Mitsubishi ballasts to replace my old Morimoto units. I chose these and the difference is staggering. MUCH quicker warm-up, no more RFI static (I've got my FM radio back!) and a lot quieter. You will have to pay attention to location as these aren't waterproofed like the Morimotos, but don't even think about settling for less. OEM is the way to go. I've got these paired to a set of Philips 85122XVs and the output is STAGGERING compared to 50W Morimotos.

Was having radio interference issues with the Morimoto ballasts I had, so I switched to these and the static went away! It appears the lead to the bulb is properly shielded so the rfi generated by the ac current is captured and properly grounded. Would strongly recommend these to anyone doing a retrofit!
Perfect replacement for Infiniti M35 OEM

My dad's 2007 M35 ballasts started going out and these swapped in directly without any modification and work with the OEM system perfectly. Couldn't ask for better!
