INSTALLATION DOCUMENTS
Trusted: With global distribution exceeding a half-million units over the last six years; more enthusiasts chose Morimoto over any other aftermarket ballast in the world. By adopting everything that was good about the out-going design and tossing the rest out the window, the XB35 2.0 excels in every way.
Reliability: When two of the best names in ballasts get together to create something new, good things happen. The new XB is essentially a Hylux + Morimoto mash up, and we are proud to bring their new ballast baby to North America! Designed to last for 2500 hours and we're confident they will. The powerful AS15-G4 IC chip recognizes outside system faults such as a loose high voltage connection, and after one misfire will cut power rather than potentially self-destruct. The software is proprietary to this ballast alone.
Protected: The die-cast aluminum shell houses a 100% potted circuit board; eliminating any chance of moisture damage. The AMP SuperSeal three-pin connector from TE Connectivity between the igniter and the ballast ensures the safety of this crucial output.
Compact: Slim 18mm body will mount almost anywhere, and that's OK because they're fully sealed from the elements. There are four mounting points cast directly into their shell, no spare brackets to mess with.
Versatile: Since the igniter cord can be unplugged from the HID ballast computer, you can easily change from AMP to D2S or vice-versa (without the use of unreliable adapters, that is). Likewise, if an igniter does happen to go bad, it can easily be replaced.
Fast, Friendly and Efficient: Power hungry HID ballast replacements never work well with tricky CanBus systems, but the new Morimoto XB35 2.0 ballast consumes less than HALF of the start current than the previous model did. Far less than Denso, Mitsubishi, or FastBright which makes their ability to reach full intensity a more efficient process.
Modern: Like all modern OEM ballasts: the XB has relocated igniters far closer to the HID bulb. The lack of high voltage transmitted through wiring drastically reduces EMI/RFI (radio interference). Total system reliability is also improved by shielding the main circuit board from the static produced by these high voltage bursts on start up.
Functional Work of Art: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB35 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. Stainless Steel hardware. TechFlex braided insulation. Embossed circuitry on the shell. We most admire how the laser-engraved graphics on the rear incorporate the potting-ports into the design. All about the details!
Mature: The XB35 2.0 features countless advancements from the most popular OEM ballasts. In terms of modern headlight tech, High Intensity Discharge is now fully matured; and therefore the aftermarket gets the full benefit engineering progress in the OEM world. Time will tell, but we doubt there ever be an "XB 3.0" ballast from Morimoto. This could be the grand finale, folks!

excellent

my wife saw me looking for hids, she tried to give me a surprise buying me a set without knowing anything at all, so she bought a cheap set, just lasted 2 months and the ballast melted down. I liked the hid look on the truck, but i decided to go with an excellent brand, based on research and reviews and bought the morimotos, OUTSTANDING PRODUCT, the light output, the beam pattern, the color, the quality of the ballasts and bulbs. Just the ballast weights 10 times more than the cheap one. If you are looking for an aftermarket set, Morimoto is the way to go!
Good ballast.

I recently had a used pair of denso ballast purchashed from EBay nine years ago. I start noticing that they weren't as bright as before. I purchased these with new bulbs and there is a huge difference. I'm impressed.
High quality ballast

This is very small compare to my old one it look very clean and modern highly recommend this for replacing ballast I install it without a relay and it work perfectly only time you need a relay if hid is flickering other than that it's good!
Great ballasts

Having come from 3 previous aftermarket HID setups and not being totally happy, I took the Morimoto route through TheRetrofitSource after hearing about all the good things about Morimoto and TRS.
The moment you open up the box you can tell this is a quality product. Everything looks professional grade which is less than what can be said for other competing brands or much less from cheap ebay kits. The ballasts themselves look and feel great yet are very slim for ease of placement. The braided insulated lines are very nicely done offering great protection while also looking top notch..
These guys fire up every time without any issues. Its been a while since I could last say that about a kit.
TRS will be my one stop shop for anything HID related on all my vehicles from now on.
We'll see!

Just got these to replace the DS ballasts for my 2013 Ford Fusion which has a finnicky system to begin with. I'm also using the relay harness with an error eliminator on the OEM headlight connector side of the harness (same set-up as my 2010 Fusion Sport) and so far they are working well without having to turn my lights on/off several times to get them to work. Customer service throughout all of this trial and error has been quite exceptional!!! Thanks TRS!!!
Quality Product

Purchased these to replace my cheap, no-name, 35w ballasts that seemed to take forever to fully warm up. The look and feel of these ballasts just scream high quality! Faster warm up than the cheap ones I had, compact design, and slightly brighter. Wouldn't settle for anything else!
What have I been missing?

So I've ran everything from eBay hid kits to acme bulbs and and acme speedystart ballasts to now this. Let me start by saying I have a retrofit utilizing morimoto h1 7.0s. Originally I thought eBay h1 kit. Let's do it. Light output was good but I wanted more. I went with acme h1 bulbs with speedy start ballasts. Had a bulb go out so I went with morimoto h1 bulbs. Then a speedystart ballasts died in under a year (trs was fantastic at honoring the warranty by the way) so black friday hits so I buy these ballasts. Wtf is the first thing I ask myself. The light... the light output is unreal. These ballasts with morimoto h1 bulbs in my retro were mind blowing. The light is whiter. The road is brighter. Holy moly. I will now and forever only buy morimoto. The difference these ballasts made were unreal.
If I had to complain the bulb connection is right on the ignitor. This made for a fun time trying to come up with an idea to connect my bulbs without the extra play and make sure the ignitor wasn't flopping all over but omg the difference is unreal.
Worth Every Penny!

I purchased a set of projector headlights and an HID kit second hand for my 2009 Dodge Charger R/T. From day 1 I was having issues with the set up. My headlights would randomly turn on and off and I was getting some slight flickering on one side. I discovered the relay harness was the main problem so I took it off and threw it away. Fast forward a month later and the passenger side ballast stopped firing the bulb. I decided it was time to scrap all the second hand wiring and go with these ballasts and a Morimoto relay harness. The quality and build of these blew the others completely out of the water. The performance is a world of difference and since installing everything works 100% as it should with no random lights coming on or turning off and no more flickering. On on top of it these just look so much nicer and more OEM. I couldn't be happier with the new set up. No more stressing about my HIDs working correctly.
