Lucky You: The E46s with OEM ZKW Bi-Xenon headlights are notorious for basically self-destructing due to a very cheap plastic used for the projector bowl. Fortunately, the Morimoto Retro-Quik system is designed as a bolt-on upgrade for a big performance boost inside the headlights on all E46s with OEM ZKW Bi-Xenon headlights.
For ZKW Bi-Xenon Headlights Only!: This kit is designed solely for the OEM ZKW Bi-Xenon headlights. Have OEM Bosch / AL Bi-Xenons? Consider the E46 Replica Projectors instead. Have OEM Bosch Low Beam HIDs? Consider the Bosch Retro-Quik instead. Still have OEM halogen headlights? Check out the Mini H1 kit instead.
Bi-Xenon Projectors: Truth be told, for a bunch of headlight nerds: We could not imagine a more perfect projector. The all-new Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 Bi-xenon takes the cake in every category. A supreme low beam. A High beam so bright it's unholy. A cutoff line that can't get any sharper. Quality that nobody can question, and an undeniable ease of installation. If we died and went to headlight heaven, this thing would be greeting us at the gate.
Mounting Hardware: 100% Engineered in the US. Laser cut from G10 fiberglass plate. The Retro-Quik brackets at the heart of the kit are designed to adapt the Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 projectors directly in place of the burned stock units. Using the original mounting holes paired with new hardware, they are the beauty behind the kit that makes it an easy install. Some trimming is required here, so just a heads up to plan accordingly.
Optional D2S HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in projector-based headlight…and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID bulbs are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.
Optional High Beam Splitters: Double high beams?! whaaaat! Since these cars have a pre-existing halogen high beam and the new projectors in the Retro-Quik system have their own bi-xenon high beams, you’ll have no problem lighting up the back roads. Put simply, the optional Morimoto high beam splitters allow you to make this feature work easily without any cutting or splicing to the factory wiring by diverting power from the halogen bulb into the projector’s high beam solenoid, making them both work at the same time.

Got the kit installed this week! Fast shipping!!
First of all love the light out put of these new projectors! definitely worth doing its a night and day difference in visibility.
once put and all done it is great but getting it to fit is not 100% how it came out of the box, projector housing is not very well put together, mounting holes are slightly off one of the mounting hole is impossible to put a supplied nut on due to misaligned mounting point so you need to trim it to make it work.
Kit does not include shroud so you would need to purchase one but the quality on it is terrible. I got my factory shroud to work which fits lot better and more secure, so I ended up trashing the shroud I purchased.
Overall kit is great, definetly needs modifications on headlights also the projectors it-self to make it work right. I would only recommend this if you are good with your hands, if not look for professional installer.
Purchased the kit a few weeks ago. Finally got all the parts and time to do the install this weekend. Over all this was a PITA!
I expected much more of a plug and play install. I had to modify the light housings on both projectors to get them to line up. I also had to grind away some metal on the projector bracket to get the mounting nut to screw down all the way. In hind sight i would have just purchased the projectors and made my own brackets. Would have been much less work.
The projector bezels had to be JB welded on, which i knew was going to be the case. Wish the projector housing would have allowed for the snap on fit like the stock bezels. I know this is a retro fit but this could be improved.
The light output is definitely much better now and i like the cutoff of the light beam on the new projectors. Working with the TRS folks was great and they work hard to keep their customers happy.
My OEM ZKW Xenon projectors were shot! Burnt, faded, and light output was probably worse then halogen even though it was running Philips D2S's. No point in going OEM ZKW replacements which would burn again. Bought the E46 Retro-Quik from TRFS and couldn't be happier. Packaging was top notch, parts were top notch, the whole experience were top notch. When I find some time, I will be posting some pictures to the inspiration gallery.
