Lucky You: The S50 and S52 equipped E36's are timeless sweethearts when it comes to bimmers. What isn't sweet is those whack halogen projectors that leave you in the dark at night. Fortunately, the Morimoto Retro-Quik system is designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade for a big performance boost inside the headlights on all E36s with DJ Auto / DEPO Ellipsoid-style housings.
Bi-Xenon Projectors: The most refined version of Morimoto's very first bi-xenon projector, and it shows in their picture perfect light output. They use Morimoto's Kuria optic clear lenses to give them a wide, intense beam pattern with a sharp and colorful cutoff line. The 3.0 version is optimized with a multi-faceted reflector bowl, curved cutoff shield, and the biggest, most reliable bi-xenon solenoid on the business. The FX-R is the biggest Morimoto projector but man are they worth it! As the biggest Morimoto distributor in North America, all projectors are tuned to perfection here in our shop.
Mounting Hardware: 100% Engineered in the US. Laser cut from automotive-grade G10 fiberglass. The Retro-Quik brackets at the heart of the kit are designed to adapt the Morimoto FX-R Bi-xenon projectors directly in place of the unsophisticated stock units. Using the original mounting holes paired with new hardware, they are the beauty behind the kit that makes it an easy install. You're welcome.
Optional HID Ballasts: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. They are available in both 35w and 50w versions, use proprietary software by the pros at Hylux paired with packaging perfection from the masters at Morimoto. This is today's most modern iteration of a model that has sold more than half a million units since inception, and we don't think it can really get any better!
Optional D2S HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in projector-based headlight--and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID bulbs are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.

No issues installing after following instructions on website. No error codes on my e36 and night time driving is fantastic now. Would 100% recommend to any e36 enthusiast who is serious about their car.

I ordered these from Andrew for my E36 M3 and they work like a charm! I was using European ZKW Ellipsoids and fit just fine...so that should tell you that it would hypothetically work towards any Ellipsoid E36's
I just purchased an E30 so hopefully there will be another TRS product retrofitted in!
I've been working wtih TRS since 2008 before they made the move to ATL. They've only gotten better since then! Thanks for making HID Retrofitting more mainstream and affordable!
Thanks again ...and again for the great pieces!

First off I'd like to clarify this is a 5 star kit if you are retrofitting into DJ Auto/Depo headlights (maybe some others, call TRS to verify). With Depo/DJ Auto headlights, this kit is extremely easy to install. However, the install into the Bosch Ellipsoids is not a simple one. If you've got Bosch Ellipsoids my personal suggestion is to order the FX-R stage 3 kit and get better bulbs in the kit for slightly less than this kit. With the Bosch Ellipsoids your install process will essentially be the same with either kit. This is the ONLY reason I docked the kit 1 star, as it was unclear that it was not designed for the Bosch set up.
Onto the review, once installed and aimed, this kit is literally a night and day difference! I purchased my m3 with the horrible US spec plastic headlights, I immediately ordered some Bosch Ellipsoids for a bfc forum member in Germany and retrofitted them into the car with the sole intention of purchasing this kit if the light output wasn't sufficient. The Bosch Ellipsoids were greatly improved over the US spec headlights but they still just werent quite enough. I finally bit the bullet and ordered this kit. To quote a california valley girl "O.M.G." Light output is amazing, cut offs are defined, light uniformity is perfect, it's as if you have your own personal sun lighting the road ahead in predefined areas as not to cause problems for other drivers. I don't think it gets any better than this in terms of bang for your buck or quality of light. Bottom line, if you have DJ Auto/Depo's (or from the sounds of the other review, Zkw's), buy this kit and never look back. If you've got Bosch's, a dremel tool and some patience, jump on bimmerforums.com and check out the diy's and go for it, you'll be glad you did.
