You Asked: Morimoto delivered! And, really - that's what the brand does best. By collecting user feedback from professional installers and end-users and taking it all back to the drawing board, they've come up with the all-new XBT system and we can confirm it FAR out-performs the outgoing XC system in every way.
Mean Looking: Designed with a universal mount that will fit a wide range of aftermarket and OEM projectors with ease; the XBT Demon Eyes will add an ambient glow in virtually any color just behind the projector lens. In combination with our custom lens etching service, you can create one mean looking set of headlights!
What's Weird: Is that most everybody who buys an RGB setup is crazy focused on how it works in the white-mode...almost as if that's even more important than the rest of the colors. Well, the good news is that the new XBT Demon Eyes and their drivers have been tuned to produce an amazingly clear, neutral white, as well as an amber, and every other color in the spectrum for that matter. When paired up with the new XBT Controller & smart phone App, these produce very accurate colors...reds, blues, greens, teals, purples, pinks...you name it! (and white...and amber!)
Intensity: Unlike most other RGB Demon eyes on the market that use a singular RGB chip, the Morimoto XBT Demon eyes are illuminated by 12 individual RGB LEDs to produce plenty of intensity in all colors! Do you need that? No, do you want that? Yes...and besides, overkill is underrated!
What's new with two? The PCB size shrank slightly and has wiring exiting from the top. Also, a first for LED Demon Eyes, Morimoto added a custom fitted reflector to reflect 100% of the light forward on to the back of the projector lens, increasing overall intensity. Check out the example photos and simulated ray trace to get an idea of how and why this works so well!
Brackets:Though the singular mounting point on the XBT Demon Eyes make them "universal" - It only makes sense to offer bracket options that make them a direct-fit for some of today's most popular projectors. If you're retrofitting with Mini H1's (of any generation; some mods req'd) or the Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0's, you're in luck! Just add a set of the brackets for an easy bolt-on style setup. Yeeee ha!
Reliability: The innovative Hybrid-LED color-changing technology delivers a virtually infinite lifespan of 50,000 hours. That's almost six straight years! Because they're based on much more stable and mature SMD-LEDs; they are considerably more reliable between hot/cold cycles compared to "new" COB based products. The complexity of their circuit boards has been minimized to reduce the chance of a failed contact, and the four solder points on the back are protected with resin.
Plug n Play: Unlike competing RGB "systems" that require complicated wiring from the user's side, the XBT LED setup is 100% Plug n Play. There is no wire stripping, cutting, or splicing involved. In traditional Morimoto style; All wiring is insulated by rubber tubing then protected with TechFlex mesh for an OEM-like appearance, durability, and abrasion resistance. The LED drivers are housed inside an aluminum housing that's been anodized with an attractive piano black finish and laser engraved with the XBT graphics. Make sure your setup looks good inside and out!
XBT Family: First-time users will need to purchase the optional XBT Bluetooth Controller to run their Demon Eyes. You can then expand with up to two more sets of XBT color-changing accessories (more Demon Eyes, halos or strips) without another controller, since it can control up to three pairs. While the XBT demon eyes will work with other 4-wire RGB+ controllers; Morimoto's XBT Controller is recommended for the best performance and color accuracy.

I'm in the process of doing a projector retrofit with these demon eyes and I found that the 4 wires that are soldered to the PCB board to be a weak point. They break very easily with any sort of flexing and bending because the wires are thin. I had two wires snap on me so I decided to redo the solder on all 4 wires and then seal everything up with silicone all around the PCB where the wires attach so as to reduce flexing and bending at the connection points. You can see in the product photos that they only put silicone over the solder points but that isn't good enough to prevent breakage. Also, the glow from these aren't as bright as I had hoped. I tested them in my garage.
I was very excited to get the demon eyes. Once i got them installed i was disappointed in the light output during the day. They are very dim and the halos over power them. At night they're great. Just wish they were brighter.
I had high hopes for these in a set of Mini H1 projectors but LEDs ended up "very DIM." At night or in very shaded/dark areas they are great. During the day they just seem to be on dimmer switch on lowest setting. Maybe will reposition for a different result? Very happy with XBT halos.
