Renowned: The Morimoto Elite Systems have earned their reputation amongst many as the aftermarket's best set of HID's. We urge you to check out the specs below, read the reviews, and then ask yourself whether your ability to see well while driving at night is worth saving a couple bucks?
HID Ballasts: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. They are available in both 35w and 50w versions, use proprietary software by the pros at Hylux paired with packaging perfection from the masters at Morimoto. This is today's most modern iteration of a model that has sold more than half a million units since inception, and we don't think it can really get any better!
XB HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in fog lights--and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.
Wire Harness: As one of the most important parts in any HID lighting upgrade; don't skimp out when it comes to your wiring. It doesn't matter how good your ballasts are. How good your bulbs are. If your harness is a piece of crap, when it gives out your fog lights are gonzo. Morimoto's harnesses are the best on the market and easily worth their premium price compared to cheaper alternatives. No matter which one is right for your application, the harness features triple-sealed central relay packs, 14ga stranded copper wiring, over-molded fittings, and plug-n-play functionality. This will ensure everything properly (and permanently) works with your vehicle's original in-cabin controls.
Optional Canbus Harnesses: Instead of a traditional relayed harness that draws power from the battery, Morimoto's Standalone Canbus harnesses use two individual sub-harnesses to keep a load on the factory wiring. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying "bulb out" warnings. We generally recommend them for use on most modern European applications instead of normal harnesses since they do a great job at providing stable power to the ballasts and canceling any warnings.
Backed Up: Let's not forget the 5-year warranty on the entire kit*. The Elite system is designed to run for 2500 hours, so that's what it's guaranteed for. Don't buy into empty promises from other places offering BS "lifetime" warranties. Nothing lasts forever, and if you think "the other guy" will be there to pick up the phone or even stay in business long enough to assist you when there's a problem; guess again! [*XB55 880 HID kits have a 3 year warranty]
User-Approved: By satisfied enthusiasts with all kinds of cars and trucks. With a quick and easy search we pulled up install examples (1,2,3,4,5,6) that span several generations of the Elite HID systems! If you haven't made a decision just yet, keep reading!

Installed on my 2009 W204 Mercedes C class (C180 Kompressor)
Very happy with the quality and ease of installation of the H7 Morimoto Elite HID system on my 2009 Mercedes C-Class C180 Kompressor.
I carried out a self installation which took about 1 hours, and although I'm not used to carrying out DIY stuff on a regular basis, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install. The hardest part was actually getting out my existing bulbs due to the clamps which hold down the low beam projector bulbs. I found a Youtube video to help me out what that.
The installation itself included setting up the wiring, installing the bulbs, placing and securing the blasts, and connecting them all together. The instructions were pretty straight forward.
The system I purchased and installed was the 35W version with 5500K bulbs. The color appears to be true white as indicated and provides a definitive sharpness and clarity on the road through the crystal white color output. The light output is not over powering, yet it disperses evenly and far enough through the projector lamp. Also, on-coming traffic does not seem to be affected as I have not had anyone flash their high beams yet. Rather, the lights seem to turn a lot of heads on the road, and once in a while a car will slow down to get a better look :)
When I first tested the system I noticed a slight flickering in the light output and decided to add the Canbus which was supplied with the system. This stopped the flickering all together.
I have received No Errors on my dash either with or without the Canbus. The system has been running on my Mercedes for about 5 weeks now and have no issues to report :)
I bought a 2014 Chevy Cruze with factory 9008 dual beam. I hated the OEM assembly so I bought a projector assembly with H7 as the low beam. In the past, I bought a HID kit from TRS and loved the color and the kit. Thus, making me want to buy another kit from TRS.
So I bought a H7 XB35 3five 4300k. And let me tell you, THE XB35 BULBS ARE AMAZING!!! The start up time is quick as hell to a white color. TRS gave me all the wires I need and if I had questions, I would send an email and TRS would respond within a 24hr period.
I bought a car with fog lights because I knew I would need them. The funny thing is that, with these new H7 HID bulbs, I DON'T NEED MY FOG LIGHTS ANYMORE!! Highbeams??? WHO NEEDS HIGHBEAMS!! :-) :-) :-) Haha Lol.
Extremely high quality. You get what you pay for with this kit.
Lights from the Retrofit Source
I installed the H7 kit on my 04 Mazda 3 and couldn't be happier with the buy. The lights are super bright without being obnoxious to other drivers. The install was not really difficult, just be sure to have zip ties on hand as they are helpful for mounting the ballasts and relay kit.
I got the 35 watt ballasts and 4,300k lights because I didn't want any blue in the headlamps and they look really nice!
As far as the service from the retrofit source goes is it was great! They shipped 2-day from the other side of the country so it was really nice to get these earlier than expected.
I reccommend the morimoto kit from the retrofit source. Even though the kit is somewhat spendy, it is actually cheaper in the longrun. This is because a lot of my friends have ebay kits and the ballasts go bad like every 3 months so in the end those cheap ebay kits actually end up costing more in replacements than the morimoto kit. The 5 year warantey offered with the 35 watt kit is also a really solid piece of mind and a great kit.
PEUGEOT MY2009 Reflector halogen headligts.
Having tried a vast number of hid kits i have to admit that it 's the first time i find something that is almost identical to halogen bulb fitment!
My biggest concern was the glare produced by every hid kit i had tried since this day.
Apart from morimoto quality which is great and is evident on hid bulbs, the beam pattern is almost identical with the halogen bulb with very little to zero glare above cut off! And this is achived WITHOUT any retrofit, but by simply changing the halogen bulb with the hid one!!!!!
Quality beats price every time
I originally had a Kensun 55w kit installed on my Chevy Cruze and the lights constantly had a slight flicker to them. So I took the advice of others and ordered this kit. The quality of the parts was head and shoulders better right out of the box. The ballasts felt heavier and better built, and the harness was just overall much better quality. Installed this kit in place of the Kensun and now not a single flicker! Very happy with my purchase, not to mention it arrived in only three days! Very happy with my purchase and I'll continue to shop from TRS!
Potent Lights - Great Value - Easy Install
After running a crap-tastic $30 HID system on my car for a year and watching the colors change daily like a mood-ring, I decided to opt for a decent setup. I installed a Morimoto kit on my '07 CBR600RR a year prior and decided to drop the Morimotos in my '06 Mazda 3 simply because they gave me no grief on my bike and required no housing/reflector modification.
Initially there was a considerable amount of flicker upon start-up and the two bulbs were off in hue by maybe 500kelvin. After the break-in period, they fire right up with at-most one flicker and the colors now match each other to a crystal white color. The stock projectors/lenses on the Mazda aren't fantastic and therefore the spread and cutoff is not fantastic but this is no fault of the bulbs.
The install was very easy and self explanatory. Some vehicles including mine require spacers between the bulbs and tension springs, these are not included in this kit but can be found for $5-8 on ebay. Plenty of vehicles don't require these spacers. Aside from having limited room under the hood to mount the ballasts and relay, the install was a breeze.
Overall, I'm very happy with my second purchase from TRS and their service is fantastic. I did contact them with regards to the flickering and they kindly educated me on the break-in period which my first pair of Morimotos didn't require. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend TRS or Morimotos products to anyone. However, for those who are going forward with a full retrofit that is not plug-and-play or drop-in, I would recommend spending the extra money on the Osram or Philips products paired with an excellent projector bowl and lens. I believe it is worth the extra money when you're putting in the effort and time to modify your light housings. The light distribution and clarity will be far superior. I would have opted for the best projectors on my CBR but the stock housings were so small that I could only install the Mini-motos. Even still, they are a huge improvement over a single halogen low beam and single halogen high beam.
Thanks again TRS!
Super high quality! Extremely bright!
Installed on an 07 Subaru Legacy GT wagon
I love this HID kit, the quality of all the components is top quality. I would expect something like this with braided wires and nice plugs to be sold for over $300.00.
I bought the 6500 H7 kit. They are pretty blue, but not too bad. They hold true to the picture they have shown comparing the colors. Night visibility is intense! My Hi Beams get drowned out from how awesome these HID's are. Even with the 35w ballasts they are easily twice as bright as my old HID kit that died on me.
Only downside is the negative battery connector to the relay didn't reach easily on my Legacy. I could of mounted the relay in a different spot to help it but where i mounted was my best idea on the Relay.
But, the quality of this HID kit is worth it all, I would definately buy again!
Thrilled with my purchase!
Just installed the H7 Elite HID system, and I couldn't be happier. The Morimoto ballasts were backordered and delivery was a week late, but it was well worth it. The light looks incredible...crisp, clear and very (very) well defined. I opted for the XB35 bulbs and I honestly think they look better than some of the stock HIDs I see on the road. Would definitely recommend making the move to this system. I have an 07 Subaru Legacy and installation was straight forward...took about an hour and a half, but that's mostly because this is my first ever DIY installation!
These HID systems LEGIT
These HID System are so amazing! I was so close to buying DDM tuning again after my HID from DDM finally died 5 years from now but I didnt like the quality and vision. So I give TRS a shot. MAAAAN these systems are worth a buy. I'll buy another one for my fiance's xB and future refers.
