Dime a Dozen: Everybody wants H4 LED headlight bulbs today, but for all the wrong reasons. The diverse marketing tactics and the numbers war that's pushed onto ill-advised consumers is only getting more and more amusing to guys like us who actually know better. 100W? 10,000 lumens? Top-secret LED chip formula with seemingly exotic blend of rare materials or fancy coatings? Cool story, bro, but how do they actually work on the road at night? Isn't that what headlights are for? Check out our Comparison Video on YouTube.
2Stroke 2.0: Despite the fact that we haven't really had anything to offer in this niche, well, at least without risking our reputation selling our customers something that we truly didn't believe in: We respect the fact that Morimoto stood on the sidelines for so long, simply learning from everybody else's mistakes. In testing the brand-new 2Stroke 2.0 system side by side with a multitude of other designs, we finally became excited about LED headlight bulbs for the first time. Against the odds and certainly our expectations; seeing is believing and we agree they actually work pretty darn well! Here's why.
Safety: You won't be putting yourself at risk while driving at night with the 2Stroke Bulbs. Prior to this, we could only ever comfortably recommend LED bulbs for use as auxiliary lighting, high beams, fog lights, etc. Here, we test a lot of automotive lighting products. (really, a lot) Until now, there were literally no options that would translate their luminosity out onto the road into a useful-enough beam pattern (and measured lux at a distance) to really call adequate for on-road use. The optics for the H4 2Stroke bulbs are unique compared to other sizes in the range in order to produce the best possible results in H4 headlights.
Modern: Relative to the original 2Stroke that used massive & powerful CREE XHP50 LED chips, the updated 2.0 version now employs the latest and greatest Z ES chips from Philips Lumileds. Their small footprint allows for maximum lumen density and precision perfection when it comes to the bulbs ability to re-create the output of the original halogen bulbs they replace. Many other LED headlight bulbs are now using small LED chips lined up in a row, but nothing compares to the Philips Z ES.
Pretty Cool: Heat management is crucial for lumen maintenance and reliability. The 2Stroke bulb's internally opposed 1.5mm copper boards extract as much heat as possible from the area surrounding the LED chips and transfers it to the radiator at the back of the bulb. The one-piece radiator housing is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, and conceals a magnetic levitating fan inside. This is the most compact way to house an effective yet compact cooling system.
Size Matters: Due to the extra depth of most LED bulbs, they won't fit inside headlights with solid plastic rear housing caps. The 2Stroke 2.0 is undoubtedly one of the most compact (yet still actively cooled) LED Bulbs on the market. Morimoto paid much attention to this throughout development, and it's not such an easy task given the need to balance size, power input to the LED chips, and thermal management to keep them running within safe range.
Trusted: For more than a decade, we've worked hard to earn our killer reputation. Car guys world-wide know that TRS carries the internet's best selection of high performance automotive and powersport lighting products at the best prices, and we've got the best, most knowledgeable team of real enthusiasts to help back it up. If we sell it, then you bet we've put it to the test on our own cars, trucks, and bikes. Need a recommendation on parts for your project? Got a tech question? Wholesale inquiry? Contact Us

I've owned other LED bulbs in the past, and they've always been hit or miss. Having plenty of excellent past experiences with Morimoto HID setups, I knew their LEDs wouldn't disappoint. And they do not! I installed a single H4 2Stroke in my 2018 Suzuki DRZ400SM supermoto. It has a simple, old-school, square glass headlight housing that really limits the possibility of retrofits or full replacement housings. The Morimoto unit dropped right in, with minimal bulk behind the headlight housing which works perfectly in the low amount of space available on most bikes. The light pattern on low beam and high beam is identical to that of the original bulb, but about twice as bright. No goofy glare, no distortion of patterns. I contacted TRS about availability of a single bulb so that I did not have to buy a pair, and a single unit was placed in my cart the next morning!
Installed these in a 2005 Tacoma. The cutoff looks pretty solid against a fence, though I think they'll need to be re-aimed. I had someone else drive the truck head-on towards me and the lights hit the eye just a little wrong. Just haven't gotten around to aiming them down a little to see if that takes care of it.
Factory rubber boots were able to be re-used, though they fit really tight on the base of the bulb. Wasn't able to get the fan holes outside of the boot though, so hopefully that doesn't cause issues with cooling. Fans can be heard in the cab, but once the engine and music are playing you can't hear them.
Hopefully they last, haven't had them in long enough to tell longevity-wise
Put these on my 10 Tacoma and I'm thrilled! The fit with no modification even to the housing boot. They are a full leap beyond the stock bulbs and I would recommend them to anyone.
Had old headlights in my 2010 Tacoma and needed the upgrade. Wanted to go with a trusted product and have been super satisfied with these. Very easy install on the Tacoma as well. Did not modify a thing the rear simply presses tight against the rubber housing. Would for sure recommend.
I love my new 2 Stroke 2.0's. I live in a rural area and work swing shift so I'm going home late in the evening. These lights are EXTREMELY bright and REALLY light up the road...they really do the trick!!
The only downside is for the on-coming traffic! I get about 25% of the on-coming traffic flashing me thinking my brights are on! They really hate it when I flash them back....
Overall these lights do exactly what I wanted them to do...light stuff up! The beams are well focused and not the usual flood-like affect like other LED's or HID's without projectors....love them!!
