9012 HID Bulbs: Precision alignment of 100% Philips Quartz glass and halide salts sourced from Germany is at the center of Morimoto’s amazing XB HID It’s going to take a long time for LED technology to catch up with these beauties, especially with Morimoto making them better and better with each new generation. The Morimoto 9012 HID kit has optional 3000K (golden amber), 4500K (warm white), 5500K (pure white), or 6500K (cool white) replacement bulbs. We tested these against industry-benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K, and the difference in luminosity was nearly imperceptible.

Excellent performance and cutoff on 2013 Volt

Performance a huge improvement over factory halogen bulbs. Beam characteristics and cutoff appear to remain the same, only brighter. Beam matches many factory HIDs, other than width. Performs better than F-150 factory hid. Has less width than Acura TL and TSX HID.

Capacitor link will cause flickering on a Volt. CANBUS itself isn't needed, but the parts in the CANBUS harness seem to do enough to prevent flickering without needing a relay. HD relay 9012 kit without cap-link should perform the best all around, but the CANBUS adapter does seem to work without needing to run relay wires.

Only thing I don't like is that the 4500K/most neutral color also has a blue tinted bulb. Perfectly clear glass is preferred.

I strongly recommend the Morimoto kit for Volts!

Similarly-priced competition has a whiter-than-halogen bulb, but halogen-levels of performance. I compared directly. I can't suggest the other kits available at the same price - TRS has the best.

Great 9012 kit

I bought this to replace the HIR2 bulbs that come stock in a 2007 Nissan Maxima. What a difference it makes over the junk OEM halogen bulbs. I got this kit for my moms car and she was super impressed with the quality of the kit and light output! We went with the 4300k bulbs and 35w ballasts.

2016 Scion TC

I was a little hesitant when first reading reviews and wondering if $150 was "too much" to spend on HID's but am I'm glad i did! Great upgrade over OEM bulbs that were 55w halogens, the light output from the 35w 5.5k is amazing. Crisp and clean white! Lights up the shoulder also, and the cutoff is nice and clean still with little light scatter for not being a "true" projector. It also fires up every time i start it up, no worries for me at all. Overall i have to say it was worth every penny and i love it! Would buy from again in the future!

Works Great!

I purchased these HIDs for my 2015 Scion TC and I could not be happier! The car comes stock with HIR2 bulbs so i definitely needed to upgrade. The install was quite simple despite the limited room in the TC, took me about an hour and a half. Being a combined low/high there is very little light scatter when using low beams, making this upgrade a no-brainer! I purchased 35w ballasts with 5500k bulbs, but it is not quite as white as I intended. I recommend 6500k if you want a very white light.

All in all, this is a great kit. Highly recommended!

2011 Chevy Volt

I opted for the 9012 35w 5k system. Customer support was top notch, quick response. 5 stars to staff. 4 overal only because I ened up confused and bought the capacitor link which is not needed for the Canbus system. Slight flicker first couple startups, but so far no problems. Also would be nice if they offered Velco that they sell on the list with the carbon fiber brackets or offered it instead of the brackets. Installed in less than an hour without any real hassle. Bulb on one side was a little snug and worried about breaking, but both fit like a glove. No tabs to modify. Volt has little room to mount anything by the lights. I used industrial velco to mount so that I can place the wires and other parts tucked in near ballast. Although no real step-by step instructions, the nice harnesses are idiot proof. I did need to flip one to get polarity right as is typically 50/50 chance on GM cars wiring. Only other tip I can offer is that installation requires cutting the tabs and drilling a 1" hole in the dust covers. I used a Dremmel to cut tabs first. If you use snips, be careful as they are brittle. I cracked one trying this, luckily not to where I have to replace. Lights look nice and cant wait to see how they work in the fog as they provide much better light at night than the stock bulbs. Looking to install matching switchbacks for frount blinkers. Fantastic Product

Ordered this kit for my 2014 Ford Edge SEL with a capacitor link to work with the daytime running lights required by law in Canada. After some minor troubleshooting (capacitor link wires reversed in connector) the kit runs perfectly. This is my second HID kit from TRS and I could not be happier with their products and their customer service.

For the price I find these kits worth every penny. You can really tell the quality in the workmanship.

I purchased a 2014 GMC Sierra back in January. I spent multiple hours researching the HID conversion kit to purchase.I finally mad up my mind and purchased this kit for TRS. I am very pleased with this purchase. I emailed them a few times and they were willing to help with any question that I had.

I installed the lights on a Saturday. It took a little longer than I thought it was going to but most of that was my own doing and issues. I want to hide the kit as much as possible and not just have wires hanging all over. I cant say I am very car/truck savvy but can get most things done. Overall the install was pretty simple and straight forward. I did drill a hole in the light cover so that the wires from the bulb itself could pass through. The rube gasket seals very well.

I used the can-bus for the error eliminate and flicker. I do believe some others have used the capacitor link. I am thinking it might have to do with the model of truck SLE vs SLT, just a thought though nothing to back that up.

The lights are bright and look great also. So much better than the stock lights on these trucks. If you are looking for a great kit and great customer serve go with TRS and this kit.
