INSTALLATION DOCUMENTS
Morimoto Bi-Xenon Projectors: Morimoto's new Mini H1 8.0s represent the grand finale in the series of "Mini H1" Projectors - representing what we believe to be most advanced H1 headlight projectors in the world today. Revised optics paired with a cast-curved cutoff shield produces one of the widest beam patterns we've ever seen. AR-Coated Optically clear lenses maximize intensity throughout, and keep the ECE-slope cutoff line sharp, colorful, and attractive. The standard MotoHo1der bulb holders are so much more precise than the old crappy spring-loaded units. Result: Maximum light on the ground, zero glare to oncoming traffic.
Shrouds: Basically, they're the trim piece that adds the finishing touch to your new fog light retrofit. They cover the projector after it's installed to restore the factory-finished look inside the housings. With so many different shapes, sizes, and designs available, we really recommend picking one that suits the geometry inside of your fog lights, and also your personal preference on how they look. Check out all of the projector shroud options we offer and take your pick!
HID Ballasts: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. They are available in both 35w and 50w versions, use proprietary software by the pros at Hylux paired with packaging perfection from the masters at Morimoto. This is today's most modern iteration of a model that has sold more than half a million units since inception, and we don't think it can really get any better!
H1 HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in projector-based fog lights--and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID bulbs are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same lumin Osity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.
Wire Harness: As one of the most important parts in any HID lighting upgrade; don't skimp out when it comes to your wiring. It doesn't matter how good your ballasts are. How good your bulbs are. If your harness is a piece of crap, when it gives out your lights are gonzo. Morimoto's harnesses are the best on the market and easily worth their premium price compared to cheaper alternatives. No matter which one is right for your application, the harness features triple-sealed central relay packs, 14ga stranded copper wiring, over-molded fittings, and plug-n-play functionality. This will ensure everything properly (and permanently) works with your vehicle's original in-cabin controls.
Optional Precision Bulb Holders: Designed by Morimoto in California, the new MotoHo1der utilizes a three-piece design that's way more effective but virtually no bigger overall than the old clip setup. The clever three-piece design provides even pressure on the back of the bulb, ensuring perfect alignment. To be honest, we think it's the single best upgrade to the projector that's ever been conceived since it helps make the most of the awesome 7.0's on the road. Well worth the extra few bucks in the grand scheme of things!
Optional Canbus Harnesses: Instead of a traditional relayed harness that draws power from the battery, Morimoto's Standalone Canbus harnesses use two individual sub-harnesses to keep a load on the factory wiring. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying "bulb out" warnings. We generally recommend them for use on most modern European applications instead of normal harnesses since they do a great job at providing stable power to the ballasts and canceling bulb out warnings.
Optional LED Halos: Though LED halos may not be for everybody, if you're looking for the cleanest, most simple, most reliable setup, we highly recommend the Profile Performance Pivot Halos. Not only are they the brightest, most uniformly lit halos currently on the market, but they double as a switchback turn signal with your blinker circuit. The integrated controllers are extremely easy to setup with only three wires (white, amber, and ground) and allow you to run the white mode continuously until interrupted by the signal--at which point they will blink amber. Once the signal stops, the Pivot ring will automatically switch back to its pure white mode.
Optional Housing Sealant: Protection is priceless! When you're putting together a set of high-end fog lights, the last thing you want is moisture in 'em the first time it rains outside. RetroRubber is the most effective way to make sure the original seal is fully restored. For the small price, why anybody wouldn't prevent their new fog lights from fogging up is beyond us. It'll be the best twelve bucks you've ever spent.

I have the FX-35R D2S (4300K) for my RX7 using Denso ballast and I can't really tell the difference in the beam spread and output with the Morimoto H1 kit (5000K) in a 1998 Camry using a DEPO clear housing. This kit produces more of a purple band at the cut-off edge than the D2S. Much easier to put in and align than the D2S kit. The H1 bulb connector (at the base of the glass bulb) doesn't seem as robust as the D2S but they seem to mount fine to the base. Very happy with retrofitting this to my 1998 Camry. I can actually see now.
Excellent item!!

I purchased this item for a 2001 Chrysler (old) Stratus and I have nothing to say but how happy I am with the results. Guys at TRS got them installed on the car's housings since I'm from Argentina and there are not any qualified retrofitters here.
People here can't believe the system performance nor the first class quality of the product, when I went to my technician he just couldn't stop asking questions about it.
Thank you all TRS team for turning my night to day with class and elegance!
excellent bit of kit

i bought this kit to install in a jeep tj. this was my first retrofit. everything went perfectly. i had done a $50 ebay special before in my truck and ended up ripping it out and going back to factory. I will not be doing that with these. going from the original jeep sealed beams to these is literally a night and day difference. they have made my off road lights essentially useless. i have had the lights in for 6 months and haven't had a problem yet and this jeep sees quite a bit of mud and water that gets up around the wiring and ballasts. also the customer service was fantastic. i cannot recommend this product or this company highly enough!
Excellent projector

These were a gift to me, they are currently installed in a 2004 Chevy trailblazer. I have a few comments. The output is excellent. It's like driving around with the factory high beams on. One thing that does bother me is that the cutoff does gradually slope off to each side. Nothing drastic though. My other complaint, and only a minor one is that the mount for the bulb holder was slightly off so the bracket had to be bent to be able to put all three screws in. The cutoff is as crisp as every other projector car I've parked next to but my alignment is slightly off. For the price and the improvement over factory, this can't be beaten and the quality of build is top notch.
Great Kit

Bought this for my 2013 Civic Sedan. Light output is fantastic. Everything was well made and extremely durable. Since it was my very first retrofit with no knowledge on retrofitting, it was a bit difficult (15 hours installation), but all worth it in the end. The only problem is that the projector thread was not long enough to stick out in the back of my housing, forcing me to dremel the back of my headlight housing. Other than that, the projector, ballast, and bulbs were perfect! I would purchase another set if I got another Civic. This time it'll be shorter than 15 hours.
Excellent!

I bought these for my '91 Volvo 740SE. I've felt the lighting's always kind of... Lacked. I've tried doing all the other lighting mods I could, but I came to decide that HIDs were going to be the best way to get me to where I wanted to be with light output. So, searching around, I found two other people who had done a projector retrofit on their grandpa cars, and started searching for info on that. I was under the impression that I couldn't do a projector and would end up running PNP H4s, which was not what I wanted.
So, eventually, someone pointed me towards The Retrofit Source, as I was about to buy modified ancient Morimotos with special shrouds that were made to match my car. This guy told me that the units were outdated Mini H1s, and that the new ones were heaps better. I looked about TRS, did a fair bit of research, saved my pennies, and bought a pair after Christmas.
Fast forward to February 2nd, and I'm installing the projectors in my headlamps while my buddy mounts the ballasts. Within 6 hours from disassembly to firing up the ancient Swedish barge, I had reconfigured, rotated, aimed, mounted, plugged in, and JB Weld-ed everything into place.
The light output is spot-on, even with my still-not-defluted glass headlamps. My only note is, if you're going to run the Mini Graphite shrouds in old reflector headlamps, paint the headlamp reflector. I'm getting a little light above the cutoff, and I'm worried it may be glaring other drivers. I have to check with my buddies if this is the case, as it is very dim light, but to be sure, I probably wouldn't leave everything translucent and reflective in the future.
I can't wait to get my hands on to other retrofitting projects, the light output is incredible, and the creativity and challenge involved in pulling this off is rewarding.
A+ 10/10, would retrofit again.

High Quality and Straight Forward HID KIT!!
by Nahall
I love this kit!! Really high quality ballasts, bulbs, and projectors. The only time consuming step was having to use a Dremel and basically enlarged the opening as well as rounding it out on the inside part of reflector. It took time because we did it little by little, as to not go too big.

Oh my what a night and day difference, quite literally. Went from Sylvania ultra star halogen to HID projectors, it is almost comical how much more I can see. Went from left bulb low and right bulb high to both being low and high beam with the solenoids controlled from the switch on the handlebar. Installation was smooth and TRS customer service is awe-inspiring. What amazes me most though is how they really are not joking about it looking like a factory set up. I have internally wired bulbs so I had to drill holes in each access cap like it says on the guide online, and in doing so they provided harness makes it water tight and looking like the factory designed it that way.
