INSTALLATION DOCUMENTS

Morimoto Bi-Xenon Projectors: Morimoto's new Mini H1 8.0s represent the grand finale in the series of "Mini H1" Projectors - representing what we believe to be most advanced H1 headlight projectors in the world today. Revised optics paired with a cast-curved cutoff shield produces one of the widest beam patterns we've ever seen. AR-Coated Optically clear lenses maximize intensity throughout, and keep the ECE-slope cutoff line sharp, colorful, and attractive. The standard MotoHo1der bulb holders are so much more precise than the old crappy spring-loaded units. Result: Maximum light on the ground, zero glare to oncoming traffic.

Shrouds: Basically, they're the trim piece that adds the finishing touch to your new fog light retrofit. They cover the projector after it's installed to restore the factory-finished look inside the housings. With so many different shapes, sizes, and designs available, we really recommend picking one that suits the geometry inside of your fog lights, and also your personal preference on how they look. Check out all of the projector shroud options we offer and take your pick!

HID Ballasts: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. They are available in both 35w and 50w versions, use proprietary software by the pros at Hylux paired with packaging perfection from the masters at Morimoto. This is today's most modern iteration of a model that has sold more than half a million units since inception, and we don't think it can really get any better!

H1 HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in projector-based fog lights--and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID bulbs are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same lumin Osity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.

Wire Harness: As one of the most important parts in any HID lighting upgrade; don't skimp out when it comes to your wiring. It doesn't matter how good your ballasts are. How good your bulbs are. If your harness is a piece of crap, when it gives out your lights are gonzo. Morimoto's harnesses are the best on the market and easily worth their premium price compared to cheaper alternatives. No matter which one is right for your application, the harness features triple-sealed central relay packs, 14ga stranded copper wiring, over-molded fittings, and plug-n-play functionality. This will ensure everything properly (and permanently) works with your vehicle's original in-cabin controls.

Optional Precision Bulb Holders: Designed by Morimoto in California, the new MotoHo1der utilizes a three-piece design that's way more effective but virtually no bigger overall than the old clip setup. The clever three-piece design provides even pressure on the back of the bulb, ensuring perfect alignment. To be honest, we think it's the single best upgrade to the projector that's ever been conceived since it helps make the most of the awesome 7.0's on the road. Well worth the extra few bucks in the grand scheme of things!

Optional Canbus Harnesses: Instead of a traditional relayed harness that draws power from the battery, Morimoto's Standalone Canbus harnesses use two individual sub-harnesses to keep a load on the factory wiring. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying "bulb out" warnings. We generally recommend them for use on most modern European applications instead of normal harnesses since they do a great job at providing stable power to the ballasts and canceling bulb out warnings.

Optional LED Halos: Though LED halos may not be for everybody, if you're looking for the cleanest, most simple, most reliable setup, we highly recommend the Profile Performance Pivot Halos. Not only are they the brightest, most uniformly lit halos currently on the market, but they double as a switchback turn signal with your blinker circuit. The integrated controllers are extremely easy to setup with only three wires (white, amber, and ground) and allow you to run the white mode continuously until interrupted by the signal--at which point they will blink amber. Once the signal stops, the Pivot ring will automatically switch back to its pure white mode.

Optional Housing Sealant: Protection is priceless! When you're putting together a set of high-end fog lights, the last thing you want is moisture in 'em the first time it rains outside. RetroRubber is the most effective way to make sure the original seal is fully restored. For the small price, why anybody wouldn't prevent their new fog lights from fogging up is beyond us. It'll be the best twelve bucks you've ever spent.

Incredible

by

I also wish I had installed this kit sooner. These lights are first off incredibly bright (I got 5500K bulbs) and pure white. They make my tiny '99 Miata much, much, much safer to drive at night because now I can see what's in front of me. Other drivers can also see me much better at night and during the day with the switchback halos added. I am extremely satisfied with these parts and my install.

Man these are some heavy duty ballasts. I see where the price tag comes from now!! This is just another great add-on to the Mini Morimoto projectors from our favorite at TRS!!

mini H1 (14 tacoma)

Light output is waaaaay better than stock. Install wasn't but, but wasn't exactly easy. I could probably do it in 4 hours the next go around not including painting the housings. TRS shipping was blazing fast. All around A+ experience.

Mini H1 Stage 3 for a '08 Honda Civic EX Coupe

by

I recently ordered the Stage 3 kit form my Civic, along with the Motoholders, high beam splitters, and new rubber caps for the install. All the parts came quickly and I completed the installation pretty much without a hitch....although the stems on the Mini H1s are just a tad too short to make it all the way through the Civic headlight housing and get a locknut on AND have the motoholders sit flat on the end of the stem. I ended up taking about .040" of thickness off of the locknuts and then it fit perfectly. After the install was complete, I realized that I had an intermittent problem with the right side only not coming on. Sometimes it would come on just fine, then it wouldn't. I contacted TRS about the issue and we had narrowed it down to either the igniter or the ballast. I requested that both items be sent so that I could change them out one at a time. It turned out to be the igniter on the right side that was the culprit, so that solved the intermittent issue. I ended up keeping the ballast to have as a spare and I paid for that, since I already had it at my house.

The beam and cutoff of the Mini H1s is absolutely perfect and I'm really impressed at the difference that they made (I had a cheap set of housings in the car with cheap projectors before this retrofit). I also used the splitters to be able to enable the Bi-Xenon function of the H1s and when the high beam is activated, both the projector HID is on, as well as the High beam bulb in the other part of the reflector. That combination on high beam is OMG bright!

I am completely satisfied with the purchase, the Customer Service, and the products I received from TRS. Great Customer Service is not a common thing anymore, like it was when I was growing up. To find a company that is willing to go that extra mile and make sure that you, as a customer are totally satisfied, is a wonderful thing. I will definitely recommend to anyone looking for products to upgrade lighting on their vehicles; buy from The Retrofit Source, they just cannot be beat. Thanks to all that helped me through this project.

Phenomenal

by

Couldn't be happier with this product. For years I've wanted to run HID's over halogens for both visibility and aesthetics, but I didn't really want to be one of the dinguses that puts a cheap kit in a reflector housing and proceed to blind everyone on the road. Only recently did I discover TRS and learn the ways of proper retrofitting. After doing my research I decided to join the elite and do it properly. I was impressed from the moment everything arrived. Each product is packaged perfectly and everything was in pristine condition. Install took...longer than expected because I tried my best to remove all the glue, ended up making a mess, and eventually accepted that I wouldn't get it all. I also ended up doing some cutting since I installed into a 9006 and there is not enough clearance for the retaining bolt. Really other than that it was not to hard, just tedious. The end results were totally worth it, though. It's a night and day difference in visibility, plus it looks so clean. The color is spot on for what I was looking for, I went with 6500K bulbs, with mostly white with that slight blue tinge. Overall I am very happy with this product and plan to recommend TRS and Morimoto to friends and family.

Night and day over my factory 02 WRX lights and great customer service

by

This was my first retrofit and I was very impressed with how easy this really was. I'm fairly mechanically inclined and have all necessary tools for just about anything so aside from the cutting part which was just a matter of not worrying and just doing it and some minor electrical troubleshooting in terms of my 9007 pinout everything went very smooth.

The light output is about 100-200% more compared to a factory reflector (at least on my 02 WRX wagon which the factory lighting is horrible) and imo brighter and more exotic looking than alot of factory HIDs (my last car was 2000 Lexus GS400 with factory HID). I did choose to upgrade to the XB35 bulbs so Idk if this makes that much of a difference compared to the 3five bulbs but I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Beautiful output, clean colorful cutoff.

In terms of customer service I must say I haven't dealt with many places that are both knowledgeable and helpful in all aspects of their craft and shipping was really fast. I had ordered orbit shrouds to find that they did not fit in my reflector bowls without really hacking them up so I called and in the middle of my project to switch shrouds and had the mini gatling guns at my door in a day n a half.

Will most definitely be doing another retrofit on ANY of my cars in the future that do not have HIDs. Thanks TRS

Recommended! For f150

This kit worked very well on my f150. Had a few issues with the bulb guard post inside the reflector but overcame them. Very nice cut off and light distribution!
