Product Details

Renowned: The Morimoto Elite Systems have earned their reputation amongst many as the aftermarket's best set of HID's. We urge you to check out the specs below, read the reviews, and then ask yourself whether your ability to see well while driving at night is worth saving a couple bucks?

HID Ballasts: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. They are available in both 35w and 50w versions, use proprietary software by the pros at Hylux paired with packaging perfection from the masters at Morimoto. This is today's most modern iteration of a model that has sold more than half a million units since inception, and we don't think it can really get any better!

XB HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in fog lights--and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same lumin Osity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.

Wire Harness: As one of the most important parts in any HID lighting upgrade; don't skimp out when it comes to your wiring. It doesn't matter how good your ballasts are. How good your bulbs are. If your harness is a piece of crap, when it gives out your fog lights are gonzo. Morimoto's harnesses are the best on the market and easily worth their premium price compared to cheaper alternatives. No matter which one is right for your application, the harness features triple-sealed central relay packs, 14ga stranded copper wiring, over-molded fittings, and plug-n-play functionality. This will ensure everything properly (and permanently) works with your vehicle's original in-cabin controls.

Optional Canbus Harnesses: Instead of a traditional relayed harness that draws power from the battery, Morimoto's Standalone Canbus harnesses use two individual sub-harnesses to keep a load on the factory wiring. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying "bulb out" warnings. We generally recommend them for use on most modern European applications instead of normal harnesses since they do a great job at providing stable power to the ballasts and canceling any warnings.

Backed Up: Let's not forget the 5-year warranty on the entire kit*. The Elite system is designed to run for 2500 hours, so that's what it's guaranteed for. Don't buy into empty promises from other places offering BS "lifetime" warranties. Nothing lasts forever, and if you think "the other guy" will be there to pick up the phone or even stay in business long enough to assist you when there's a problem; guess again! [*XB55 880 HID kits have a 3 year warranty]

User-Approved: By satisfied enthusiasts with all kinds of cars and trucks. With a quick and easy search we pulled up install examples (1,2,3,4,5,6) that span several generations of the Elite HID systems! If you haven't made a decision just yet, keep reading!

Awesome light and color

Brandon Herrera

Put this kit on my 02 xj sport. Love it! The 5500k bulbs are perfectly white. I have morimoto 880 bulbs in my 93 corvette, with cheap ballasts powering them. I'll be honest, the Jag lights up way nicer/brighter. Only thing I don't like is the rubber seals are too big to the fit the ballast connection. I am able to connect the connection, but it comes back out slowly. Would rate 5 stars, but due to that I'll give it 4 sadly.

Best HID's on the market!!

I've bought DDM Tuning HID's and those lasted a week before the ballasts went out. I've seen several low-end HID's also go out. But these TRS HID's are the real deal! Yes, they are pretty expensive, but the quality, craftsmanship and customer support is the best out there! I'm glad I made the leap to TRS HID's!

Best HID Kit Available

Dakota Chapman

Hands down, the best that you can buy. I have purchased two sets of the Morimoto Elites for two different vehicles and I am so impressed. These are brighter and cleaner than most OEM HID systems. The install is so dang simple. Longest lasting light and performance by far. I will install Morimoto systems on every single vehicle we own. Also- TRS customer service is bar none. The search is over- buy these and you won't regret it. I installed the 50w ballast with 6500k bulbs and the light is pure white and crisp. Top notch. Cant say enough about these or TRS. Thanks for the great product and best customer service.

Best HIDs on the market!

I purchased this system for my 2004 Chevy Silverado. I had heard many great things from TRS and thought I would give this HID system a try. Wow! Well worth the money and great quality. No better company than TRS. My old "cheap" HIDs went out less than 6 months with no warranty. I like the idea of the HD Relay Harness connecting straight to the battery and only using the cars headlight plug as a trigger. TRS FTW!

Best on the Market!

Anthony Whittington

Well worth the money. Sad to say, but I initially made the mistake of buying one of the more common "ebay" cheap units from a shop in California. I thought it would be better then the other cheap units, I was WRONG. Within months, a ballast went out. After fulfilling the lifetime warranty, the other ballast went out. Instead of having to continuously deal with this headache, I decided to get this system from TRS.

This is by far the best option on the market. You pay for what you get. The quality is so much better, especially with the bulbs. Plus when hitting bumps, there is no jitter that I experienced with the previous kit.

Install was fairly easy on my 2008 Mitsu Lancer. Just took some time to feed the relay and find convenient placements for the ballasts. I would highly recommend removing the front bumper if you have a Lancer like I do. Made install a breeze! Thank you TRS! Now I just have to find the time to do a projector retrofit...

Better than expected

I purchased the 9006: Morimoto Elite HID for my 2003 Miata. The results were better than expected. I have tried other HID kits only to remove them because the beam pattern was everywhere and blinded everyone. Someone suggested that I try the Morimoto kit and I decided that I would. I figured there would not be much of a loss if it didn't work since most of the parts are what is used for a Retrofit and I still plan on doing a proper Retrofit in the future. See the before and after shot on the TRS Facebook page.

Happy Camper!!!

These are the best hands down. I installed these on my 2008 Trailblazer SS. All I can say is if you dont have one of these kits your missing out. Huge difference in the stock head lights. I cant say enough good about this product. Keep up the good work guys.

I installed these on my 2006 Scion xB and the total time was about 20 minutes. What took the longest time was routing the wires for a clean look and the instructions could not be easier. I'm recommending TRS to everyone I know!

Im running these in my 8th gen civic the 35 watt 5500k. Im pretty happy so im actually buying the 50 watt set to compare. Light output is decent cant really complain and build quality is top notch. The only issue hence the 4 stars is i had a hell of a time plugging the male connector of the bulb to the amp igniter!!!. It would not go in and was lined up. The passengers side is almost in but wont lock! The drivers did lock barley but both where a pita!. Not sure if i got a bad connector its almost looks a tad to long. Overall great kit way better than my GTRv3 and supernovav3 leds i had..
