Top-secret LED chip formula with seemingly exotic blend of rare materials or fancy coatings? Cool story, bro, but how do they actually work on the road at night? Isn't that what headlights are for? 2Stroke 2.0: Despite the fact that we haven't really had anything to offer in this niche, well, at least without risking our reputation selling our customers something that we truly didn't believe in: We respect the fact that Morimoto stood on the sidelines for so long, simply learning from everybody else's mistakes. In testing the brand-new 2Stroke 2.0 system side by side with a multitude of other designs, we finally became excited about LED headlight bulbs for the first time. Against the odds and certainly our expectations; seeing is believing and we agree they actually work pretty darn well! Here's why.
Safety: You won't be putting yourself at risk while driving at night with the 2Stroke Bulbs. Prior to this, we could only ever comfortably recommend LED bulbs for use as auxiliary lighting, high beams, fog lights, etc. Here, we test a lot of automotive lighting products. (really, a lot) Until now, there were literally no options that would translate their luminosity out onto the road into a useful-enough beam pattern (and measured lux at a distance) to really call adequate for on-road use. The optics for the 9005 2Stroke bulbs are unique compared to other sizes in the range in order to produce the best possible results in 9005 headlights.
Modern: Relative to the original 2Stroke that used massive & powerful CREE XHP50 LED chips, the updated 2.0 version now employs the latest and greatest Z ES chips from Philips Lumileds. Their small footprint allows for maximum lumen density and precision perfection when it comes to the bulbs ability to re-create the output of the original halogen bulbs they replace. Many other LED headlight bulbs are now using small LED chips lined up in a row, but nothing compares to the Philips Z ES.
Pretty Cool: Heat management is crucial for lumen maintenance and reliability. The 2Stroke bulb's internally opposed 1.5mm copper boards extract as much heat as possible from the area surrounding the LED chips and transfers it to the radiator at the back of the bulb. The one-piece radiator housing is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, and conceals a magnetic levitating fan inside. This is the most compact way to house an effective yet compact cooling system.
Size Matters: Due to the extra depth of most LED bulbs, they won't fit inside headlights with solid plastic rear housing caps. The 2Stroke 2.0 is undoubtedly one of the most compact (yet still actively cooled) LED Bulbs on the market. Morimoto paid much attention to this throughout development, and it's not such an easy task given the need to balance size, power input to the LED chips, and thermal management to keep them running within safe range.

Sorry I wish I could give this a better review but when I installed the 9005 bulbs they were loose enough in the housing that I could see the beam pattern changing when driving. After swapping some o-rings around i got them to work. I want to give these a better review but when it doesn't fit correctly straight out of the box...
I have the XB HID kit in the low beams and was ready to upgrade the high beams. Install was fairly easy, bought the housing extension and made them work on my caps.
I bought these for my 2019 Subaru WRX for the Hi-Beam and let me tell you they are amazing and super bright! They work with the DRL system in the car so you just blind people with constant hi beams all the time in the daylight but that okay lol! I will not put any other lights in any of my cars after seeing how amazing these lights are and you shouldn't even care about the price when you truly see the product in person!! They look amazing by themselves and then the light it puts out is outstanding! Worth every penny!!!!!!

Bought a set of these for my 19 WRX high beams and they are awesome! It's like having the sun in front of your car when paired with a mini h1 bixeon retrofit. I live in a very rural area so I probably use my high beams more often than just low beams. Great color and pattern, huge upgrade for anyone that uses their high beams quite often. I am not running them as a DRL, so I can't say I know how they look as a DRL. I think it took me less than 5 minutes to install the lights. It's a simple upgrade but, none the less, an upgrade worth doing.
Literally, these bulbs bring the night to day! My neighbor and I installed these the day they arrived. No, it's not 2 person job, just an excuse to hang in the garage and sample some beers ;) We couldn't believe the difference! Highly recommend!
I bought these for my 201 5 Honda Accord Sport unsure whether they would work or not with the DRL system (bought the harness also just in case). Previously, I'd read that LEDs and DRLs didn't mix well because of the lower voltage sent to the high beam bulbs, causing them to either flicker or run really dim, so I left those alone when I was upgrading the forward lighting.
Fast forward two years...a couple of weeks ago I ran across a YouTube video from the guys over at Headlight Revolution about these new Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0s. Chris does a great job of reviewing the bulbs and the test applications used and I figured "heck, if they're DRL compatible, maybe I'll give them a shot." Ordered the 9005-type connector and after about a week, they arrived.
Installed them a half-hour ago with the anti-flicker harness and whaddya know, they work! No flicker during DRL mode and the high beams work. The light output is crazy - these are easily twice as bright as the stock halogens. I love how they retain the original focus pattern (in the Accord, the high beams continue to use a reflector style housing despite the change to a projector system on the 9th generation headlight assembly).
Definitely worth the upgrade.
Pretty nice. Nice color. Good brightness. Upgraded with the h11 hid conversion kit. Honestly these high beams weren't needed. First trip was 960 miles. Really had a long first day of use.work really well if you live in a wooded area or farm area with high objects on the sides. Most of the city highways that has walls these will work for as well. A lot of my travels are in flat roads with wide open areas. Nice addition, but with the right hid system (I use morimoto 35w 5500k) these are not used much.
Bought for an 18 legacy. HUGE upgrade from stock. Worth every penny. Driving in the middle of nowhere and deer country is no problem anymore. These lights are awesome!
