Helpful Tools
- Dremel rotary tool with cutoff wheels: these things are perfect for all around trimming, cutting, shaping. You can use them on plastic, metal, you name it. It is hard to retro without them. They break sometimes, so the "EZ Lock" ones shown will make your life a bit easier when it comes time to change wheels.
- Dremel rotary tool with sanding drum: These are good for smoothing things out after cutting them up with the cutting wheels. They're also good for minor material removal to reflectors, shrouds, and even projectors.
- Misc tools... Everybody should have these, and if not, they're inexpensive and easy to find. You'll want some old flat blade screw drivers for prying the headlight housings apart (see the glue!), some good flat blade and Philips screwdrivers for general disassembly/reassembly, pliers, and spring clamps to hold the housings together while the glue cools down during reassembly.
- Safety first! You'll want to get a set of work gloves, a pair of protective goggles (aren't these fashionable?) and a dust mask. When your cutting stuff up with your Dremel, there's going to be dust and all kinds of particles you don't want to inhale. We recommend coughing up a couple bucks on this small stuff instead of coughing up a lung!
