H11: Morimoto Elite HID System

Verified & Secured

Description

Since their debut in 2011, the Morimoto Elite Systems have earned their reputation amongst many as the aftermarket's best HID kit. We urge you to check out their spec's below, Read the Reviews, Google "Morimoto Elite", and then decide for yourself. We're sure proud of it!

The 'Moto 3Five H11 bulbs feature: Ceramic bases for precise alignment giving you a clean beam pattern. Quartz glass tubes to minimize UV output and maximizing luminosity. Their Praxair (US) metal halide salts produce very accurate color temperatures (3K/4.3K/5K/6K) - The XB35 Bulbs put the 3Five's on steroids and ups the ante in every category. It's also worthwhile to Note that the XB35 is an H11B spec, whereas the regular 3Five is a standard H11

Check out this video comparing the 3Five to the XB35 bulbs on our YouTube Channel! (Here)

The 'Moto ballasts feature: Compact, clutter-free design with integrated igniters. Completely weatherproof body & potted internals. Braided tech-flex insulated high voltage line enhances durability and looks, the interior lining prevents EMI interference. Laser etched graphics, aluminum fittings & mounting hardware. "DSP" (Digital Signal Processing) and 23KV Siemens Igniter greatly enhances bulb warm-up speed, now comes standard as of January 2014.

The 'Moto Heavy Duty Relay Wire harness features: All new completely sealed dual 40A Relay set, 14 gauge stranded copper wire protected by durable black tech-flex mesh looks like a factory harness when installed. Designed to be completely plug n play. (another new standard for 2014)

The optional Standalone Can-Bus harness replaces the relayed battery harness with two individual sub harnesses. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying "bulb out" warnings. Great for many modern Euro applications

Let's not forget the 5-year warranty on the entire kit (3-year on a 5Five kit). The Morimoto Elite system is designed to run for 2500 hours, so that's what it's guaranteed for. Don't let vendors with their BS "lifetime" warranties fool you into thinking you're buying something well-made with that lame excuse. (no HID's will last you a lifetime, and if you think that company will be around forever anyways let alone pick up the phone when you have a problem, think again).

Easy Install. Tremendous Quality. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Just finished installing my H11: Morimoto Elite HID System in my 2014 Acura ILX.

My headlights are internally wired, so I needed to cut a hole into the headlight caps, but that was the only part that wasn't fully plug and play. Also, the pieces that are incorporated into the bulb wiring make them sit so flush in the holes I made in the headlight caps.

Mounting was a breeze, I was able to use only the factory grounds in the car, and the ballasts were slim enough to tuck away perfectly.

The wire harnesses of the HD Relay matched my factory wiring, and I was able to tie them to the factory harnesses to keep that completely OEM look. Anybody that isn't specifically looking for aftermarket accessories won't be able to tell that these HIDs didn't come with the car.

As a bonus, the relays on the HD Relay Harness came completely blacked out, and where they're mounted between the battery and the fuse box make them look perfectly factory.

As far as the light goes, the cutoff is exactly the same as my factory headlights, but the output is tremendously better. I went with the 5000K, pure-white look, and I could not be happier. The light shows through the projector so beautifully, it's as if they were built for HIDs to begin with.

Kudos, TRS, you were not lying when you say that this kit is the premier kit.

If you're looking for HIDs, get off of eBay, get off of Amazon, and order your kit from TRS right now. The slightly extra cost as compared to the cheapo kits is more than justified by the quality, performance, appearance, and warranty that you get from TRS.

I'm stoked!

Easy install, so far so good!

Just finished installing this in my 2014 Accord. The ballast are small enough that you shouldn't have much issue finding a place to mount them (even in the cramped engine compartments of modern vehicles). The connections were solid and fool-proof. Seems like much higher quality than the $80 dollar kits you can get, you get what you pay for.

Overall, the quality seems really good so far, fast warm-ups and excellent light. Check to see if you need the XB for the bottom return wire (Accord does) so you don't get a shadow based on where the return wire is.

Will try to follow up in a few months to see how these are holding up! Would recommend based on experience so far!

So Far, Excellent!

Bought this kit for my 2008 Lincoln MKX. The car came with adaptive projector headlights, but Lincoln cheaped-out and stuck in halogens, which did not put much light on the road at all. Bought this H11 kit with 4300k XB35 bulbs (which are the correct bulbs for these headlights - no return wire shadow). TRS customer service was great answering my questions pre-purchase, as I was concerned with issued I had read on the forums which had to with PWM on the headlight circuit. TRS recommended that I use their Mopar relay harness, as it includes a capacitor to absorb /smooth out pulses on the circuit. Everything works great. It was super easy to hook up. The thing that takes the longest is taking off the front fender of the car and figuring out where to mount everything so it is out of the way. The modern engine bay is so crammed full of stuff it can take some time and patience to find a good spot to mount your HID hardware and run your harness wiring to get a clean-looking install. The kit fired up on the first try and I haven't had any issues at all since I installed about a month ago. The light output is fantastic - much, much better that the stock halogens. Another satisfied TRS customer here.

Fantastic Product & Customer Service

I purchased the H11 kit for my 2011 Subaru WRX a few months ago. The install was very straight forward and the kit has worked as promised. I did have a issue with my ballasts that was promptly addressed and I was sent brand new ballasts to correct the issue. The customer service was phenomenal. Zach was extremely helpful both on the phone and in our correspondence through email. I definitely recommend both this HID kit and the company to anyone looking for a good quality product. Also note that I purchased the 6000k bulbs and couldn't be happier. They are bright white with a slight hint of blue at certain angles. Still very OEM like. Thanks guys!

This system is outstanding! I just installed it my 2013 Fusion, and the performance is leaps and bounds above any HID kit I have owned before. I contacted TRS and had a custom order set up based on their expertise around the Fusion's picky headlight system. It consisted of a wiring harness, a single Can-bus harness (installed between the stock wiring and the relay harness), the 35w ballasts, and the XB35 5000k bulbs. It was incredibly easy to install once the bumper was taken off. The bulbs install with the return wire facing the bottom of the projector, eliminating any shadow in the output. You can see examples of people having problems with this on multiple forums. If you want a top notch PnP system that is more then acceptable, without a complete retrofit, TRS system above is the way to go. I hope this helps a lot of people.

I took the hit by ordering the 4300K XB35 H11 50w hids. I know everything about hids and retrofits and i got nervous in case this would melt my housings. I got the shipment a little late but that was ups fault not trs. People wonder if the steroid version h11 bulbs are worth it, they think only the wires are different color but hell no. When i took these out of the box i thought there were d2s bulbs untill i saw the base, I put them in and boy there is a big difference. Way better spread out output, its a good thing the burner was facing the bottom of the headlight because it reduces glare, but with these bulbs for some odd reason i have absolutely NO glare. I had to no matter get 4300l because other kelvins make me lose my beam pattern which puts out more glare then light infront of me. Thanks for lighting up my roads and not my signs trs!

Matches the 5000k bulbs in the projectors as low beams.

The relay kit is awesome. No false starts, tiny ballasts makes it easier to hide/mount it.

Bulbs take a while to warm up to true color though. Sits in a blu-ish mode for about 30 seconds.

Just put a 35w 5k kit on a 2013 Altima, greatly improved visibility. The h11 bulbs are so dim, now the lights are brighter but the oem projectors aren't that great but that's Nissan's issue not TRS/Morimoto. The ballasts feel SOLID, that's what immediately jumped out to me, their construction. Warm up time is about the same as other aftermarket kits. They are incredibly silent too. For whatever reason I needed to run the HD harness because without them the ballasts would not fire. Not sure if the ballast require it or if the Altima's electrical system simply doesn't supply the initial power to turn them on. I will purchase more kits off TRS once my old Banbo kits finally take a dump in my other cars.

The old saying "you get what you paid for" is often understated and forgotten, especially in the world of HID lighting. Like others have stated, I have bought numerous cheap HID kits that had very poor color rendition and brightness. My last set of HID lights was supposed to be 5000K in color, but when I got them they were closer to 8000K. In addition the bulbs were so poorly fitted and made that when I turned them on, the lighting was so uneven that I switched back to my standard halogens. However I'm so glad that I found the retrofit source. Yes the kits are more expensive than the cheap ebay ones, but they are so worth it. Upon opening the box, the HID kit oozes of quality. Everything felt substantial and well engineered unlike the cheap kits in which felt like something cobbled up with scraps on the floor. It took about an hour to install the lights in my truck, but when I switched on the lights, I was blown away. At last, I finally got an HID kit that was truly 5000k and not some cheap imitation. The quality of this kit can be seen through the light output and the clean beam patterns. Unlike my last set in which had uneven lighting, this was very uniform and bright.
I am so impressed with the quality of this kit that I already know that a projector retrofit from TRS in is my future.

I bought this Morimoto Elite HID kit through Retrofit Source on eBay. The customer service was great, but the kit itself was even better. For those who were hesitant to purchase a $150 kit when alternatives from China (DDM, VVME) were available for 1/2 the price. Take it from me, it was worth it. I have owned both DDM Raptor and VVME kits and found them worthwhile for about a week and then you can see the quality deteriorate. The bulbs dim and change colors. These Morimoto bulbs look and feel of better quality, and the ballast look like something off of NASA's space engineering program. Well worth the purchase!!!

The first time I received my order, I noticed that I ordered the wrong wrong bulb and relay. Called up TRS on the 22nd of Jan. and received the correct size on the 25th. I think it would quicker if the bulb was not on back order.

I’m so impressed with the feel of the whole kit. The length and width of the ballast is almost the same as a credit card. I compare the feel to the Iphone 4S. It’s compact but it has a mass to it. The picture of the ballast in the website doesn’t do it justice. Also, I love the color of the ballast. It came in blue.

The HID output is great. I decided to get the 4300K. I can see so much better when driving.

The installation was easy. It took me about 30 min. The longest part of the install is picking the places to mount the ballast and cubes of the relay. I mounted the ballast with a 3M outdoor double sided tape. According to packaging it can hold up to 20 pounds. For the cube, I bought a crown bolt, washer and nut to mount it correctly according to the website instruction. The only problem I encountered was the polarity of the wire.

I hope the quality of the whole kit is the same as the feel of kit. I haven’t seen anyone else post how long the kit last. If all goes well I gonna buy retrofit in about a year and update my post.

Thanks TRS for the great customer service!

Ok guys, I HAVE been through HID hell and back and let me tell you over the past year I have invested $400+ in crappy kits from ebay and even local "shops" in Portland, Oregon that claim to be legit.

First like everyone, I sought out the cheap ebay Xentec kit. One word about Xentec.. Absolute garbage! They have two types of DC systems and besides the VERY short life of their bulbs, they sell ballasts that never fully warm up. So my visibility was very limited. My 6000k looked like a dingy blue.

So then, I tried some local shops that even installed for free. They sold kits that had what felt like heavy duty ballasts. They took forever to start up.. In the end, i returned to the "shop" over 3 times within 2 years. Then i looked on Craigslist and found these local sellers of HID systems for only $60!! I thought wow, these must be better right? They were the same exact quality as the Xentec kits. Nobody could give me a brand name!

All the above kits were made by someone so proud of their product that they felt a name shouldn't be included. (Probably for reviews like this) Almost all of the sellers told me that HIDs come from the same manufacturer. NOT true. Oh, on top of all this ... none of the HID kits were sold with a relay harness. When I bought one my self, it couldn't ground correctly.

Problems I had(before TRS):
- VERY slow start up.
- Never fully getting to 35W 6000k looked like 10,000k
- Having to re-turn on my lights to get both of them to fire up on both sides.
- Bulbs burning out too quickly.
- Alignment issues with my lights being all over the road. ( Very Unsafe to other drivers)
- Playing the parking lot guessing game if the lights are on both sides. Driving too close to another vehicle sometimes just to see a reflection.
- Flickering once fully warmed up.

So, now I buy the TRS Morimoto Elite System...
Let me tell you I couldn't be more happier. This system has dual relays with power out indicators on the relays. The materials are thick and tough.

I bought 6000k and installed them in my 2011 Nissan Altima with stock non-projector housings. Now, when I installed the other kits from above listed, None of them even aligned correctly to come close to what cutoff I had from the stock halogens. Let me tell you, The Morimoto's even without projectors installed due to there perfect alignment looked just like the stock cutoff. This is the first kit to actually do this!

This impressed me alone in itself. So, I thought I might have warm-up issues or one side firing on faster than the other? Nope! These systems are absolutely TOP NOTCH! Even in 28* Morning weather, these lights don't take long to fire up at all. You can hear the clicking of the relays and my light output is only 35 Watts but 6000k looks like true white light with a tiny hint of blue/purple. But here's the law in Oregon anyways, if your pulled over by police they have one test that they administer. Your lights could be any color except true deep blue. But, if they pull out a piece of white paper and ANY other color but white reflects back your going to get a hefty ticket.

Point is this, if you want to keep dumping money into your lighting and never truly get anywhere .. stick to buying from ebay, amazon your local shops that meet you in parking lots from craigslist.
If your looking for excellent build quality, excellent support and an amazing warranty buy this kit from TRS. You can't go wrong. I am a customer for life now. I am spreading the word about your products to anyone looking to upgrade their lighting. Solid company and VERY cool people that DO know what they are talking about.

Thankyou,
- David Anderson Portland, Oregon

I guess it's not hard to see why EVERYONE recommends TheRetrofitSource.

After about half a dozen attempt at making one of the supposed "plug and play" H11B kits work on my 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, I finally gave up and returned the kit and bought a TRS H11 kit, despite the unknown of whether or not the H11 kit would work in an H11B socket. In the end, the amount of money spent trying to make the "other" kit work ended up costing about the same had I just bought the TRS Morimoto kit to start. I'm not going to go into detail as to what went wrong with the other kit, but the end result was the kit, plus extra for harness, then having to buy new relays, and add a resistor and capacitor just to make it work, and it was still playing havoc with the car's electronics...SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A TRS KIT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

For those looking at any of the new Kia/Hyundai with H11B bulbs in the low beam projectors, just to let you all know, the H11 kit from TRS fits perfectly. I went with the stand-alone CANbus harness and everything works and works well on the very first try, and there are no additional harnesses that's visible from the engine bay and almost zero signs of alterations. Best of all, there are NO RETURN WIRE SHADOWS! Truly plug and play, with very accurate light color, unlike the typical sub $100 kits you'd get, where the 4300 K, 5000K, and 6000K bulbs all look the same with a heavy dose of blue tint.

I'm so happy with the purchase I'm contemplating surprising my wife with a full HID upgrade for her 2011 Hyundai Tucson from TRS.

I purchased this kit (4300k) with the heavy duty relay harness for my 2010 Prius, and I am pleased to say everything clicked together and fired right up just like it should. The output from these bulbs and ballasts does not disappoint. I was please to find that the output characteristics from my OEM projectors were not significantly altered and the beam quality remains acceptable.

I liked the LED inside the cube relays - it's a nice troubleshooting aid to help trace a problem should one arise.

The wire harness is incredibly stout, and it may be possible using mil-spec wire and expandable sleeving to cut down on the bulk a little bit, but I found the lengths were excellent for being a general application harness. I had plenty of wire to reach where i needed it to go.

I chose not to use the included bulb seals, but instead transferred the seals from my old halogen bulbs. This made the installation go considerably smoother as I did not have to wrench on the bulbs to get them to seat. I could feel the seals grab, and the bulbs passed the wiggle test.

On the customer service side of things, I exchanged a few emails with Andrew, and I have to say I am very pleased to have another excellent experience with this company. I can't help but wonder what they put in their coffee to make them so excited about their work and so eager to help - but it does just that. Shipping went extremely fast and everything arrived in good condition.

In closing, I'll say that you *could* buy a cheap kit for a fraction of this price - but for the quality of the product and the confidence I have that I've got somebody who will pick up the phone and help me out if I have a problem - I would, and probably will pay the difference again.

I got this kit then was able to contact Matt and Andrew and the communication was very fast and excellent service!!
So I wanted to switch to 50w instead of 35w ballast they were able to do a special order for me on and was excellent!!
The ballast looks like it was very well made and excellent quality! Still waiting on to get dark and see how bright these are! I'm sure it will be brighter than other companies!

I ordered the HID Elite Kit with the Morimoto 3Five ballasts from Andrew for my 2011 Lexus CT200h. I couldn't be happier with the kit, the service and how easy they were to install. I have seen a lot of the Hondas, Scions and Nissans on the road with the cheap kits whose lights look purple or blind you due to cheap components used. This kit makes my Lexus lights look like they came with factory HID lights although they were not an offered option for my car. They are not the cheapest HID kit out there but based on their reputation that I have checked out...the kit sold by Retrofit Source seems to be a quality built product and if you have any questions after the sale---at least you know there are people you can call for advice or help. Thank you RS for taking something that seemed complex to me at first (choosing the right components) and making it an easy task. I will highly recommend you to anyone I know who is looking to do a similar upgrade.

TRS has the only H11 bulbs that are built correctly as to not give the 6 o'clock rod shadow I was experiencing with other lesser HID bulbs. They also have a much better and distinct cut off then any other bulbs I've tried.
