What is a Retrofit?
Power is nothing without control. Installing HID kits into halogen headlights is dangerous, doesn't work well, and annoying to oncoming traffic. Retrofitting is the process of installing a xenon or bi-xenon projector into a reflector based halogen headlight. It is the best HID headlight upgrade possible since the projector will control the light into a properly dispersed, non glaring beam pattern.
Does TRS offer retrofitting services?
Please visit our Recommended Retrofitters page to find an installer. We can aid in coordinating a turn-key retrofit for you with one of our professional retrofitting affiliates. TRS concentrates on the development and supply of parts.
Where do our parts come from?
Our selection of retrofitting components comes from a variety of origins including the US, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Germany.
Who owns the rights to all of the Morimoto products?
Morimoto (in relation to automotive lighting) is a trademark owned by The Retrofit Source Inc. We hold the documents on file and any unauthorized sellers promoting their products under this moniker are liable to face legal action under infringement on US Trademark law.. Please note that knock off's of our products do exist, and if the part does not contain the Morimoto logo hard-cast onto it's body, it is not genuine.

How do I become a dealer for The Retrofit Source?
We offer wholesale pricing on three different tiers for resellers and installers. We also offer drop-shipping services for companies who don't wish to carry an inventory of our parts. You must provide a resellers certificate and or tax-id number to be eligible. Please contact us for details.
Where can I find instructions on how to install my parts?
Documents are downloadable in the TRS Product Support forum at www.HIDplanet.com. You can also contact us via email for electronic versions of our instruction sheets.
What kits are compatible with my car?
Because of the wide variety of products we sell, there may be just one or a few different options for each application. We do not list what fits what for this reason. If you are unsure what will work best for you, please contact us by phone or through the contact page for a recommendation.
I sent an inquiry through the contact page, how soon can I expect a reply?
E-mails are replied to in the order they are received Monday through Friday. We generally receive between 100-200 new emails everyday and make an effort to reply on the next business day. Because each customer's questions deserve personalized answers, sometimes it may take up to two business days to receive a reply, especially after the weekend. Orders, Payment, and Shipping
Does TRS offer shipping outside the US?
Yes, we offer shipping world-wide and have served many customers in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
What shipping options are available, how long will delivery take?
Domestically, we offer shipping via UPS (Ground, 3 Day select, 2nd day air, and overnight) and USPS (First class, Priority, Express). Internationally, we offer USPS Priority Mail and Express Mail international as well as UPS expedited services. USPS first class is also available to certain locales. Once a package leaves our shop, we can make no guarantee's on the transit time as it is completely out of our control at that point.
Where do the parts ship from?
All kits are shipped from our shop in Atlanta, GA. Orders generally ship within 24 hours, or on the next business day. Our cutoff time for same day shipping is 12:00pm EST, or 4:30pm EST for orders that are called in with overnight shipping.
When I track my order online, it only says "billing information received" - what does this mean?
The USPS tracking number system is not very accurate, so even if an item has been shipped, their system may not recognize the tracking information immediately. UPS tracking information should show an update the night it was picked up.
When eligible for free shipping on an order, am I free to choose what service is used?
No, TRS reserves the right to default to a less expensive shipping method if your order had a promo for free shipping. Orders going to Canada for free will go by USPS First Class mail by default, no exceptions. Free shipping offers are not applicable to any customers outside the US.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept payments by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal. Money orders are also accepted, as well as T/T and Western Union (for international buyers)

Is wholesale pricing available?
Yes, we offer wholesale pricing to shops, individual retrofitters, and resellers.
I selected UPS shipping but my order was shipped via USPS, why is this?
Unless you have a P.O. Box address, TRS may substitute UPS ground shipments for USPS Priority mail, but only if the change will expedite delivery of your item. (for example when 2 business days with UPS will deliver on Monday, but USPS may deliver Saturday)
My tracking number says "delivered" but I do not have my item, what can I do?
Please contact the carrier with any questions about delivery problems. All shipping labels are generated electronically according to the address information given with your order. We are not liable for lost or stolen items. We will gladly assist our customer if there is a problem in any way we can though.
Returns, Exchanges, and Warranties

What is our return policy?
Due to the nature of our products, TRS does not accept returns on HID bulbs. Other parts may be returned as new in their original, unopened packaging and will be subject to a 25% restocking fee without exception. If the kit you ordered will not fit your application, we will gladly accept it back in exchange for full credit towards any other item from our store. Due to the high volume of incoming and outgoing packages each day, If no return form is included: we cannot guarantee that your return will be processed until contact is made and proof of delivery (ie tracking information) is furnished. No returns will be accepted after 30 days of receipt.
What is our exchange policy?
Our customers are welcome to return an item in like-new/unused condition in exchange for credit towards another part within 45 days of receipt. For example, you ordered projector "X" but changed your mind and now want to use projector "Y". Your exchanged part must be in like-new condition and include all original accessories and packaging for full credit. If no exchange form is included, your exchange will not be processed until contact is made.
Who pays for shipping on returns or exchanges?
The customer is responsible for shipping costs to and from our shop. However, if the exchange is necessary because of our mistake, we will cover all shipping charges involved.
What is the warranty policy on all Morimoto Brand parts?
Unless otherwise noted, all parts carry an 18 month warranty. If a ballast or light bulb goes bad, you will not have to return the item to us to be eligible for a new replacement. Paying for return shipping and waiting another week for the part to arrive before we can send you a new one is absurd, so a picture of the disabled part will suffice.
During my retrofit, I broke something. Can I buy just one piece to replace it instead of a pair?
Yes, please contact us and we can arrange a special order on any single item for you. Note that TRS is not liable to replace parts that were improperly installed, modified (if electrical), or used with other incompatible components.
How does shipping on warranty claims work?
Shipments of replacement parts within the US or to Canada will be made by USPS First Class Mail and will be paid for by The Retrofit Source. If you are outside of the US or Canada, you will be required to pay only the shipping costs involved to deliver your replacement part. There is no charge for the replacement part itself. The customer will be responsible to pay any additional costs on expedited delivery methods if desired.
