Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III Kit

Verified & Secured

Description

The Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III Retrofit system is a game changer. As the most universal projector retrofit kit in existence, it's literally the number one selling kit in our catalog. Includes the latest MH1 bixenons and Elite HIDs

Based on the amazingly easy to install Morimoto Mini H1 projector. With it's threaded mounting shaft that fits through the pre-existing hole in the back of your headlight reflector with little to no mods, they make retrofitting projectors easier than ever.

The Morimoto Mini H1 projectors feature: Clear lenses to give them a wide, intense beam pattern with a sharp and colorful cutoff line. Latest 6.0 version is enhanced with an all new optically advanced reflector bowl, more pull and push in their solenoids, and machined hex shaped lock-rings.

The Morimoto XB Ballasts feature: Relocated igniters like OEM ballasts putting them far closer to the HID bulb. The lack of high voltage transmitted through wiring drastically reduces EMI/RFI (radio interference). Total system reliability is also improved by shielding the main circuit board from the static produced by these high voltage bursts on start up.

The 'Moto 3Five bulbs feature: Ceramic sleeved capsules for precise alignment giving you a clean beam pattern. Quartz glass tubes to minimize UV output and maximizing luminosity. Their Prax-Air (USA) metal halide salts produce very accurate color temperatures (3K/4.3K/5K/6K)

The 'MotoControl Bi-xenon Relay Harness features: All-new (as of Jan '14) weather pack relay with revised circuitry, heavy-duty 14ga stranded copper wire, injection molded inline fuse holders, and full plug-n-play functionality. Forget about cutting and splicing, because all harness options in this kit will make your new low and high beam function perfectly from the original cabin controls.

excellent bit of kit

i bought this kit to install in a jeep tj. this was my first retrofit. everything went perfectly. i had done a $50 ebay special before in my truck and ended up ripping it out and going back to factory. I will not be doing that with these. going from the original jeep sealed beams to these is literally a night and day difference. they have made my off road lights essentially useless. i have had the lights in for 6 months and haven't had a problem yet and this jeep sees quite a bit of mud and water that gets up around the wiring and ballasts. also the customer service was fantastic. i cannot recommend this product or this company highly enough!

High Quality and Straight Forward HID KIT!!

I love this kit!! Really high quality ballasts, bulbs, and projectors. The only time consuming step was having to use a Dremel and basically enlarged the opening as well as rounding it out on the inside part of reflector. It took time because we did it little by little, as to not go too big.

I bought this from Matt in 2010 and have been using this same setup without any issues ever since. I love my 5th gen prelude now that I can see the road at night. Matt was wonderful in explaining what I need to do and a few websites showed me how to open my headlights make modifications and install. If a girl can do this to her car anyone can. I am so pleased to be able to see the road at night. Thank you TRS !!

Wow... just wow!

I installed my retro kit into my stock 2003 Civic coupe housings and let me say, they rock! The install itself was just as simple as The Retrofit Source says it is; the hardest part is working within the confines of your vehicle. The lighting itself is vastly improved from stock, the bi-xenon high beam system functions wonderfully, and the halos completely change my ride into something all its own.

Harness/ballasts (9003/35W): The wiring is pretty straightforward, the biggest problem was finding enough free grounding points. I have an aftermarket intake, so luckily I had a few spaces to spare. Mounting brackets are included for the ballasts but I didn't really need them... there's a solution for just about anything here. The wiring itself is definitely long enough for most applications. I never worried about overstretching it. The relay looks cool too!

Projectors/bulbs(H1/XB35): The projectors themselves are pretty cool! They shine more brightly than my old xenon lights and the cutoff and flicker are definitely obvious. The brights are REALLY cool too; they're bright as heck and really surprise my friends when I show them off! Installation was a breeze once I cracked my housings open and removed the old stuff.

Shrouds (Mini-Graphite): The shrouds look great. I had to do a little cutting on these particular shrouds in order to fit the LED rings inside (a fact not mentioned on this site) but it wasn't anything a dremel couldn't accomplish. They look like nothing else I've ever seen, and I mean that in a good way!

Halos (amber 80mm?/halo harness): I believe I got the 80mm ones that can fit inside. Overall, these were the biggest pain to install out of the whole kit. I already mentioned the cutting above. Second, there is a recommended $25.00 harness that allows you to power the rings directly off your battery but it is sold separately; you have to ask for it specifically. If you get that kit, you need to find room for another 2 grounding points and another relay box. Don't let that turn you off though... just one halo is bright enough to light up a room and when installed, the effect is indescribable. I find myself hitting my remote just to see them light up one more time.

TRS has some amazing customer service and i would definitely be willing to buy from them again whenever I run my Civic into the ground. Their product is rock solid and sexy as all hell. I can't believe I waited so long to do this!!!

Excellent!

I bought these for my '91 Volvo 740SE. I've felt the lighting's always kind of... Lacked. I've tried doing all the other lighting mods I could, but I came to decide that HIDs were going to be the best way to get me to where I wanted to be with light output. So, searching around, I found two other people who had done a projector retrofit on their grandpa cars, and started searching for info on that. I was under the impression that I couldn't do a projector and would end up running PNP H4s, which was not what I wanted.

So, eventually, someone pointed me towards The Retrofit Source, as I was about to buy modified ancient Morimotos with special shrouds that were made to match my car. This guy told me that the units were outdated Mini H1s, and that the new ones were heaps better. I looked about TRS, did a fair bit of research, saved my pennies, and bought a pair after Christmas.

Fast forward to February 2nd, and I'm installing the projectors in my headlamps while my buddy mounts the ballasts. Within 6 hours from disassembly to firing up the ancient Swedish barge, I had reconfigured, rotated, aimed, mounted, plugged in, and JB Weld-ed everything into place.

The light output is spot-on, even with my still-not-defluted glass headlamps. My only note is, if you're going to run the Mini Graphite shrouds in old reflector headlamps, paint the headlamp reflector. I'm getting a little light above the cutoff, and I'm worried it may be glaring other drivers. I have to check with my buddies if this is the case, as it is very dim light, but to be sure, I probably wouldn't leave everything translucent and reflective in the future.

I can't wait to get my hands on to other retrofitting projects, the light output is incredible, and the creativity and challenge involved in pulling this off is rewarding.

A+ 10/10, would retrofit again.

Great Kit

Bought this for my 2013 Civic Sedan. Light output is fantastic. Everything was well made and extremely durable. Since it was my very first retrofit with no knowledge on retrofitting, it was a bit difficult (15 hours installation), but all worth it in the end. The only problem is that the projector thread was not long enough to stick out in the back of my housing, forcing me to dremel the back of my headlight housing. Other than that, the projector, ballast, and bulbs were perfect! I would purchase another set if I got another Civic. This time it'll be shorter than 15 hours.

They're shipping is super quick, packaged well and they included something that I forgot to add.
When I had a ballast fail at random. They were able to get me a new one 2 day shipping to an address that I was staying at. I'd purchased replacement parts, because I planned to transfer them to another car. I called them up. Ordered the parts, and they were out same day.

I bought the 5.0 Kit with the foreground limiters. I love them. I'd buy the 6.0 and get some 5.0 limiters for the ultimate Mini Projector.

This is a great example of you get what you pay for. Sharp cut off. Great side beam. The high beam is absolutely amazing. Installed on my Audi S4 2004 avant. Used the audi B5 template on audizine. Worked great. Only real issue I had was the wire coating started to flake off from being 10 years old. However, that was in no way related to the product from TRS but an issue with the affects of a car sitting in the texas sun for 10 years.

Just installed my Six.0 projectors w/5000 kelvin 3Five bulbs and have to say that I absolutely LOVE the setup. There were a few hangups, install time in my 2004 Accord was 7 hours nonstop from start to finish. This was my first retro, and while not for a beginner, it wasn't 'hard'. Output is amazing and I love the immediate response of the high beam solenoid. The reason it didn't get 5 stars is the fit and finish of the connectors (9006 wiring harness). I had to mess with more than a few for a few minutes to get them to plug in, and the headlight splitters are too short to reach from the low beam socket to the solenoid leads, however I don't even want halogen high beams anymore.....that says something about the output on these things. Would definitely buy again.

I am so glad I purchased this kit. It took me a very long time to install as it was my first time doing anything like this, and I kept adding accessories in, but I finally got it done. I went for the xb35 5000k bulbs with 35w ballast. They are soooo bright. I seem to always have my hand close to my high beam switch as i often get flashed on hills. I had someone drive my vehicle as i stayed behind to watch through some mountain hills switching between high and lows about 1 mile out and I gotta say, they are by far the brightest headlights I have ever seen. Even the first glimpse over the first hill was blinding! From a mile away! I cant imagine how the fx-r's are and other high end projectors. They also have a very thick and bright purple cutoff. They look really purple to oncoming traffic more than they do white. Reason for 4 stars is three issues. One; I seem to have a slight "flicker" from either the bulb arc bouncing or something else in the headlight, but I live on a bumpy road and I see a flicker or wobble of light every good bump i hit (and no, I tightened them pretty tight so its not that). Two; I got the alignment off on one side. I lined it up and tightened it down pretty tight but after sealing it up and installing I discovered that somehow it twisted a bit on the driver side projector and I still haven't found the motivation to take it apart again to fix it. Three; I got the gatling gun 2.0 shrouds, which required some tricky trimming to get them to fit in my reflector. It was my bad for not looking at the measurements and seeing if they will fit though, but I got it, eventually. I originally purchased this kit thinking it will be a "little to no modification" setup, boy was I wrong. Of course it all depends on your headlight housing too. But the rewards outweigh all the time and effort I put into it. Again this kit is pretty amazing. I would certainly choose this kit again. I just love all the looks i get.

I was "one of those guys" who used cheap HID kits in his halogen headlights. (at least I aimed them down so I didn't blind people) I used a saturday afternoon to install these and I was very impressed. You can't even tell they are a retro-fit. They look that clean! I'm considering doing my foglights next..... If you are in doubt, read the reviews. I did and here I am writing one.

I bought and installed the kit back in Aug '12, and wanted to give it some time. Initial response: I LOVE THEM! I got the kit with the XB35 @ 5K and they are bright and just the right color I was looking for. The kit is certainly worth the money, and a great upgrade to any car for looks and functionality.

On to the not so great... I did a bit of research if I wanted to do the retro myself with the mini h1 kit, or pay and have TSX projectors put in. Based on other review, and the cost savings, I decided to do it myself. I'm glad I did, and it came with everything I needed to get it done. These are Version 5 of these projectors TRS has been selling, and I thought they would have nailed it by V5, but if you look up install DIY for these, one thing you see mentioned is to take apart the projector to fix the solenoid. I was certain I didn't have to do this, so I skipped that step. Low and behold, my high beams don't always turn off, and sometimes I have to get out of the car and tap the headlight to get the solenoid to pop back up. On top of that, my cut off was great when I got this kit. Now because of that solenoid, the cut off is fuzzy. It's not returning to the full out position and thus not creating the nice cut off in the projector. Looks like I'm going to have to do the job over agin - not something I want to do! Lastely, with almost any ballast, I get radio interference, and I was really hoping the quality ballast and wire harness would help prevent that, but it did not help.

Regardless, I would still recommend you get these for a great upgrade to your nighttime driving. Just remember to follow the DIY for the solenoid before you install.

This wasn't my 1st retrofit, but I went with the Mini H1 because of their size and low cost. Normally with low cost you sacrifice performance, this is NOT true for the price these things hang with the bigger and only slightly better FX-Rs. With that I had a small housing to work with in my 05 WRX and wanted a quick turn around from start to finish. Being this wasn't my first rodeo I prepped the headlights a day before the expected arrival of the kit to minimize downtime. Kit arrived and after a few hours and some slight modifications to the smaller adapter (H4?) the projectors dropped right in with no fuss. Shrouds on the other hand proved my enemy as I had to make a second order for a smaller shroud, the Apollos and Graphites I had could not be swayed in and allow for adjustments (hit front lens).

In summary if you are thinking about these, STOP thinking and just DO IT!

My only complaints which do not take away from a 5 star rating are:
1.) I did not received the "BIXENON" monograms that are listed to come with the kit.
2.) My Retrofit Source.com decal is black and will blend in with my dark window tint.

I bought this set last February and just arrived last March 23 (Customs Issue) here in the Philippines, These is a Perfect set for my Civic EK,it was my first retrofit and I never thought the installation was easy, except for the H4 key ring was not properly aligned to the reflector bowl, I have to trim the reflector bowl's back, needs a little modification on EK's reflector bowl, and the harness' output was switched, I connected the output on the ballast which is supposed to be for hi/lo solenoid but not a big issue I think.
I really love how it looks on my Civic EK, Blacked Housing and Gatling Shrouds and the output was so wonderful.
Came from PnP HID kit (always been flashed by on-coming traffic) to this Mini H1 kit, these is so sweet, it's like daylight driving on a rainy night and I've never been flashed even once. The Hassle on Philippine Customs really Paid off.
Perfect for Civic EK's.

I bought this kit during the Cyber Monday sale in November and couldn't pass up the discount. Installation to anyone who's put up with the hassle of using a Dremel tool to shape holes for OEM projectors will find this to be a complete snap. A slight modification was required for my 96 Ranger, but other than that I had absolutely no problems with the install and all those little parts that come with the kit make it absolutely foolproof to get your cutoff line perfect. And the output of these little projectors has to be seen to be believed, it's that good. My suggestions to anyone interested in this kit are as follows: Make sure your headlights are securely mounted to your car/truck, unlike mine which shook so much that I had to get the 9007 adapters replaced because the outside edge broke off on the projector became loose inside the housing which made it shake over the slightest of bumps. Of course, with a lowered truck, this was to be expected. I doubt it'll affect anyone who doesn't have cheapo replacement headlights on their car like I have on my truck. And second. Before doing the final installation and securing the shrouds on the projectors, lube the cutoff shields on the ends which have the little holes in them so you don't get the problem, which happened to me, of the cutoff shield not returning to their original position and affecting the cutoff line as well as the output. Just a little WD-40 on a cotton swab should do the trick and it only takes a couple of dabs to get the pivot points of the cutoff shields nice and lubed up and working splendidly. Of course with any retrofit, their might be a few hiccups along the way, but this kit really does make the process nearly idiot-proof. And Matt once again is the man for answering any and all questions you may have on this installation. Cheers to everyone who makes these wonderful products and the incredible results!

I did not need to cut any bit of my housing, but I did need to mod the hardware a bit to make it work. A little creativity got me past this first issue. After that was figured out I baked everything back and gazed at my new beautiful headlights! All in all, retrofit source supplied everything I needed minus the tools required and the product came better than I expected!
Thank you Retrofit Source!

Just got done installing this kit this weekend and I'm very impressed with the quality and light output the mini H1 produces. The retrofit went very smoothly and was almost completely plug and play with very little modifications to my stock halogen headlights. I have already recommended this kit to a few of my friends and recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their halogen headlights to bi-xenon. This is by far the most bang for your buck upgrade as far as Xenon lighting goes in my opinion. On top of all of that the customer service at TRS is excellent. Andrew answered all my questions very quickly and even offered additional assistance after I placed my order. I will definitely be a returning customer to TRS for any future lighting upgrades! Thanks Guys!

I ordered the Bi-Xenon Morimoto mini stage III H1 kit several weeks ago. They shipped it SUPER fast. I bought this kit to go in my 97 Honda Civic. This setup is pheonominal! Very high quality!! I was very impressed when i got it. Everything went together flawlessly and worked great. I highly recommend ordering the resealing glue as well.........it will save you the headaches down the road of your headlight getting water in them. If you are a 96-00 Honda Civic owner and want a legit and legal Hid kit with the smooth cutoff line then look no further. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this kit! THANKS TRS

great set. build them into my honda CBR600F4 bike it was a little tight but with the right adjustments it will fit in. i replaced a projector set from sportbikelitez with the morimoto mini's and these easily give twice the output and much more acurate.

also great customer support. questions were answered very quickly and correct.

This kit is awesome. It was really easy to get the projector into the housing, but the only problem that i had was that the shroud wouldnt fit into the housing, no big deal tho. I have really small head lights so it wasnt a surprise(98 jetta). Thanks so much to the TRS team for working with me when i couldnt get my parts. UPS wasnt much help but you guys did great. I have already told a bunch of my friends about this site and how well you guys do business. Thanks again!

TRS is crazy!!! And i really mean it!
I ordered the Morimoto Bi Xenon H1 kit and also a pair of E-46 r shrouds. The shrouds was bought as value, and there was nothing wrong with them, i mean NOTHING!

Thats a trip in my book, because it seems TRS ripped themselves off, haha.

I love these projectors. I tested the projectors to see the cutoff and i just fell in love. Pictures DO NOT DO JUSTICE. You gotta see it in person, its 10x better than videos or pictures.

I purchased these for 2 reasons. 1, so people would stop high beaming me because of my super bright, 55w 5k hid kit in my stock housing. 2, so i can get the COLOR FLICKER effect like what projectors are meant to do. Thanks to TRS and their no cut retro, i was able to achieve both things in 1 shot!

I installed them in my 92 Honda Accord. These werent the OEM headlights, but the EBAY black housed, oem ones.
I did have to do a little cutting, because of where the factory heatshield screws on, the lump is greater and the projector wouldnt sit flush inside. I trimmed off a little and was able to get these bad boy projectors in in a matter of minutes.

Thanks again TRS for the awesome projectors! I'll be back again for future retro fits i do!

An easily-deserved 5 stars!!!

Coming from the 'no-need-to-modify-or-cut' G1 and G3 projectors - I thought they were it. They were bright and intense, the cut off line was colorful, but a bit fuzzy, and the spread wasn't all that great. I thought that hat's the best retrofitting you can do without cutting up your headlights. But I was wrong - oh so wrong!!

Enter the Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage 3 Complete Kit.

Installing these was just as easy as the G1 and G3 projectors (just pop the headlights open and screw in with bolts - you can even use the stock vertical adjustment and if you need to straighten out the cut off line, you can use pliers to grab hold of the projectors from outside the sealed headlight to align. It's that simple!

And now the cut-off line. Two words. Absolutely phenomenal. Intensely sharp and colourful even approximately 200 metres away. I'm not joking. It's THAT sharp.

The spread is also simply amazing - driving in the middle of a 5-lane highway, you can see EVERYTHING around you and in front of you - and it even illuminates the road side. Amazing.

Matt from TRC was very very helpful in helping me custom order in a RHD set and was very helpful when told my situation with my headlights (I use separate bulbs for high beams and Matt told me you could simply tap into those high beam wires to activate the solenoid that activates the high beams on the projectors - meaning I get a crazy amount of light on the road with the high beams.

For pictures on the retrofit (I painted my housings black as well and installed Audi style DRLs) visit this page - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=235965&id=528881485&l=0472f700b9
Hopefully I'll have time to post some cut off line pictures soon! But it's pretty exactly the same as sown in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5-Viri9wj4

Look, it doesn't get any better than this and at this price and performance, TRC are almost giving it away. The customer service just blew my mind with their excellence and the projectors are just... insane. Driving next to BMW X5s and Audi SUVs I can confidently say that my output matches, or even exceeds theirs.

What are you waiting for? Get them now!! I assure you you will not be disappointed!!
